I’m a keralite working in the gulf, intended to go back soon for good. I made up my mind, if I ever be able to buy a vehicle for my personal use, I would only go for a good but affordable SUV (not car) if available, a 100% Indian SUV being made by any Indian automobile manufacturers, ultimately I found Tata Safari the only most suitable vehicle for me. Finally I bought my dream vehicle “Safari Petrol VXi 4x4 Quartz Black” last month which has already crossed more than 1500 km till date, and I have not encountered any problems of any kind yet.
*I don’t care at all what others views and comments about Safari, since I found my vehicle really superb in all sense.
Its Petrol Engine is not only powerful but quiet while in cruising at high speed as well. Safari has good sturdy drive, everything is well positioned to reach easy. It has good road presence, people actually fear and respect and will not dare to cross your way. ABS-EBD brakes do its job excellently, and keep control the vehicle even at high speed on the slippery road. Plenty of space, legroom and boot space inside, leather upholstery gives good comfort and smooth feeling.
No rattling sounds from anywhere inside the cabin, power steering is smooth, clutch is not heavy, gear shifting is also easy, air-con cools so fast. I do not wish to compare the quality of plastic and other fitments used in Safari VXi with other branded vehicles, because all the fitments of Safari Petrol VXi are not inferior in quality and the standard is also at par of premium models of Toyota, Honda, Skoda, Suzuki, GM etc. What else, is there any other SUV available at a price of Rs. 11+lacs with all the features and luxuries that comes with Safari VXi model in India? It is not only the cheapest luxury SUV but also the best, powerful, strong, sturdy and beautiful vehicle Tata made to last long. The excess weight of the Safari is also a great advantage, that the vehicle gets good ground support, makes the journey feels really safe and secure. It has good ground clearance and parking in any city for Safari is not at all a problem.
Dealer (Koyenco Autos at Calicut & Kochi) has done nothing in my case, except harassment. They are the worst dealer I ever heard of in my life, as I had very bitter experience with them. They crossed all the barriers of business ethics and behaved with me like an enemy. I do not wish to elaborate the complete story here.
Three times I made the booking with them for this vehicle and paid the agreed advance deposit of Rs. 1 lac DD in their favour. Instead of placing their order on Tata Motors for this vehicle, they kept my order with them and after few days they came back with different stories and returned the advance deposit. They even lied me that Tata Motors have stopped production of Safari Petrol. When all my attempts failed to get this vehicle through this dealer, finally I contacted Mr. Sanjay Gupta of Tata Motors, Mumbai directly and explained everything in detail that I had faced humiliation by this particular dealer.
He promised me, he will take appropriate action against this errant dealer and initiated enquiry through their area offices in Bangalore & Kerala, and in the meantime, he asked me to let him know the model and the colour of the vehicle I intent to buy, and assured me that Tata Motors will supply this vehicle directly to you, accordingly they supplied this vehicle to me without an Order or the advance deposit. They just dispatched the vehicle to the dealers’ showroom and asked me to pay the full payment, and take delivery of the vehicle that Tata Official has personally arranged. I personally thanked Mr. Sanjay Gupta of Tata Motors, Mumbai and Mr. Rajesh Gopinath of Tata Motors, Bangalore, as they are the people who have supplied me this vehicle thereby fulfilled my dream. They are nice, and very helpful persons indeed.
I have my own justification to choose Safari Petrol, b.cause in general petrol engine runs smoothly, quietly, more powerful in pulling, less pollution, feels no vibration, almost maintenance free, less wear & tear for engine as well as for tyres, thereby to avoid frequent visit to workshop, beyond all these, I wish my vehicle to be in perfect condition for long. I don’t mind paying little more for filling petrol, as for long run that will compensate and I could save more on the maintenance, wear & tear, and the life of the machine. I will never ever trade my Safari Petrol in my life. The average I get from my vehicle (city driving & highways) is around 10.9 km/ltr. is not bad for a vehicle of 2.5 ton.
I strongly recommend Tata Safari VX /VXi models are the best SUV in all respect, and affordably cheapest. No other vehicles can substitute Safari VX/VXi, Safari has its own place, and he is the King on the road. He is so powerful, beautiful, strong and sturdy, made to last long and gives good value for money.
