148000km updated..

As they say only people with heart can buy it. When I decided to go for Safari, as usual almost all of my friends and relatives told not to buy it. According to all of them, it’s too expensive; maintenance/running cost itself will exhaust all my salary which is true up to some extent. But at the end of day I’m not a person who works for whole life like a donkey just to increase the zeros in account. Rather I’m a person who likes to go for adventure, take risks, and never agrees to live like a common man. Enough of this, let’s talk about the vehicle.

On the very first day, I drove almost 250 km and I must say the vehicle us exceptionally luxurious, powerful, and safe, in one word “King of the Road”. I read lot reviews telling that old models are underpowered(1.9 ltr engine), but I was satisfied with the performance of the vehicle, may because I never got a chance to drive latest model. I already have two more vehicle Mahindar Jeep, Fiat Uno(diesel) and got chance to drive Scorpio, Qualis, Ford Icon, Wagon R, Swift, Indica and Tractor(I have big family:-)), but overall Safari is far different from all of them, you can easily notice people turning their heads, starts noticing you etc… Your image entirely changes when you are in Safari.

Any advice/comments are most welcome:-)

First break down

Problem:Engine Overheating, Gas kit unit problem(Possibly Radiator leak), small crack somewhere in engine

Fix:Got Gas Kit replaced, Particular engine part was taken to lathe machine for fixing, oil filters got changed, radiator pipes replaced and some maintenance work.

Desc:Engine got overheated and went dead. “Gas Kit” went dysfunctional(it’s a unit which takes care of the engine cooling and which prevents mixing of oil and water in engine). Due to overheating engine also got a small crack, got it towed. Took 4 days to repair it and cost me around 15K(Please not that it’s a very less amount which I have to bear because I have friend mechanic who repaired it) If I would have sent it to a Tata Service Centre it would have cost me more than 45K(estimate from tata service centre)

But I must say the engine sound is a bit different that it was before. It is noisier; also the pickup is less also now engine gets heated far faster than before. Anyways my friend told me that everything is gona be fine once I complete 1000 km, since half of the engine is like renewed.
