Tata Safari Storme

As part of their ‘Horizonext’ motto, Tata Motors has been launching new products and also upgrading its existing line-up with contemporary performance and features. The latest product to go through this upgrade is the Safari Storme. The Safari Storme was launched in 2012 and gave a new lease of life to the ageing Safari. It has also got a few upgrades since its launch. This time the SUV goes a step ahead with a bump in performance and is called the Safari Storme 400. ‘400’ stands for the new torque figure which is now 400Nm. Cosmetically nothing much had changed though and the front remains the same but there is an addition of new DRLs(Daytime Running Lights) which are LEDs. The headlamps are the same with projectors and provide very good illumination. There is also a deflector and a scoop on the hood and these are available as accessories.

The new 6-speed gearbox further helps this SUV to run in a more relaxed manner at high speeds. You can hover around 100 km/h and the tachometer needle stays below 2000 rpm. The six-speed gearbox has a slightly better shift quality than the current five-speed gearbox. The gear pattern is such that the reverse gear is placed next to the 6th gear and can get a little confusing during slotting. The 6th gear, though is useful only above speeds of 90 km/h. The Safari Storme 400 is available only in the top VX trim and the other variants continue to get the regular Storme specifications. Frankly, this upgrade is not a very major one but what is does is add more value to the Safari brand. Morever, it shows the intent of Tata Motors to keep fighting competition and in the process, keep bettering themselves too.
