I have both services at my home & Office. Tata Sky is much better. First the set-top box and remote provided by TataSky is better. On DishTV When I change channel It takes about 1-2 secs to change the channel. Tata Sky remote is also better and handy although bulky. Its a shame that DishTv took 3000 bucks from me and provided the low quality set-top bx which cost them 300 bucks.I have to get the dish realigned on DishTv repeatedly whereas in the last 18 months I had no problem with TataSky.
The only thing going for DishTv is that it provide numerous channels. But I don’t think quantity matters.
One thing lacking on Tata Sky and which I miss is that there is no local news channel like Total Tv . Dish TV service is quite poor whereas I don’t know about TataSky service as I did not need any.
As far as rains or cloudy weather, I must admit that during heavy rains or thunderstorms satellite services is disrupted for few minutes. But one must understand that cable wallahs services also breaks down due to electricity cuts or cable cuts or breakdowns etc. Comparing with cable service, satellite TV is far better. A few times a year if for a few minutes Satellite TV is disrupted I think its a very minor inconvenience.
One little thing I wanted to know is as one reviewer pointed out that we are supposed to receive FTA channels even if we do not pay our subscription. But Dish TV does not allow us to view any FTA channels. These channels come only when we renew our subscription. As that reviewer pointed the case is similar with Tatasky. Isn’t this illegal?
