Hi again.
My Dad owns a TATA Sumo DX.
It does its duty of carrying people around. The engine and gearbox are very reliable. Our Sumo has crossed 2.75 lakhs with out any engine or gearbox issues. We religiously follow the oil change intervals.
Again, we do not trust the TATA service centre to do a good job without ripping our pockets. So this vehicle has never visited a so called authorised service center and stiff functioning fine.
Once at 80k km, there was some knocking sound coming from under the bonnet. We took it to a service station and the guy said the engine needs to be overhauled. We took an estimate from him which was 40k. We then took it to a local mechanic who changed the bushes on which the engine is mounted on and voila. as good as new. And the vehicle has travelled another 2 lakh km. So . what do you have to say about the authorised service station? Crooks.
Mileage is 9-13 kmpl.
bouncy ride. the body rusts fast and the usual squeaky noise. Pick up is best not spoken of.
Oh by the way. its a non turbo engine.
