Problems of TATA SUMO

I have been driving TATA SUMO for last three years.

It is spacious and gives driving comfort.

But it has some in-built defects and problems which

I beleive should be known to the potential customers.

Firstly, the problem is with the front wheel suspension.

Most of the TATA SUMO owners complains about uneven and huge

ware & tear of front wheel tyres.

And also webling of the front wheels. I also faced the same.

Initially I even complained to the manufacturer in writting.

Several attempts later (by the authorized service stations)

nothing improved. Now every 2000 KM I have to do the ’’Front

Wheel Alingment’’, ’’Sreeting Alingment’’ etc. to keep my car

in driving condition. This is no single case story.

If anyone cares to visit any authorized service station

it would be revealed that 70 to 80 % of the cars are

facing the same problems.

Secondly, instability during wet wether condition:

On a wet road condition, driving SUMO at a speed more than

70 KM is always a dangerous proposition - it does not gives

you the grip which you need in such conditions.

Thirdly huge cost of maintenance. Maintenance cost and

costs of spares of TATA SUMO are one of the highest in

Indian car market today.

To my overall opinion TATA SUMO is a over-rated car.

Of course it serves Indian demand of ’’Utility Vehicle’’ in

a low competition market in that segment,

but also it served danger camofleged under gloss.

Care to see the number of accidents that Sumo has

in comparison to other cars in last 3 or 4 years

on Indian roads?

In any developed countries,

the car would have been banned by now due to

’’designing fault’’ on vital parts.
