The Tata Tiago has finally been launched and at a great price point too. And the first thing that everyone even mildly interested in the car has asked us is if it fares well vs some of the most popular cars in India, the Hyundai i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. So, lets get straight to it then.
As always, we will start with design and since the Hyundai i10 is the oldest of the lot, lets start with that first. The egg shaped design of the i10 has grown to be a favorite in India. With its tallboy stance and its cute design, the i10 does still appeal to Indias car buying audiences but with no real evolution in the last few years, the i10 is the least attractive here. The Celerio takes the same principle that the i10 uses and makes everything a notch or two more aggressive. With its bold cuts and angles, the Celerio does look quite modern and current while still managing to be small on the outside. The Tiago though is a mixture of the tall boy design and a conventional hatchbacks proportions and it really appeals us with its aggressive stance and handsome face. It also gets a much winder footprint due to its nicely proportioned front and rear fenders making it our pick from the lot.
