In December 2017, I purchased a Tata Tigor, after disposing my Mahindra Xylo which served me faithfully and satisfactorily for seven long years, taking me and my family thro’ the length and breadth of Kerala, Tamil nadu and a part of Andhrapradesh. While I have no complaint about Tata Tigor, the way the dealer cheated me has to be brought to the notice of prospective buyers. I took delivery of the vehicle from Trivandrum Motors, Thiruvananthapuram Kerala, in December 2017. On verifying the registration certificate I was horrified to note that the vehicle was manufactured in April 2017. Also the odometer reading was around 450 kms. Having been in the open yard for about nine months, the paint had lost its shine at few places.(possibly where bird dropping were allowed to dry, without being cleaned.). The water level in the battery was low. So was the tire pressure. Now I have to change the oil next month as it will be 12 months old by then. Perhaps ignorance on the part of the CRM makes him believe that oil is to be changed only after twelve months from the date of sale. My humble suggestion to Tata motors is that if they want to market their products aggressively against Maruti and Hyundai products, they should educate their dealers to properly treat the prospective buyers. However good a product be, unless the dealer satisfies the customer demands, sales will never improve. I now intend to move the Consumer Grievance redressal forum for setting right things.
My request to prospective buyers is to get in advance the details of the vehicle to be registered and also inspect the vehicle. To Tata Motors, my request is to have at least two dealers in each district.
Tata Tigor is a good value for money product. The best looking compact sedan, with ample leg space. It is fun to drive and very comfortable. Excellent AC and music system. Only thing is that my enthusiasm has been dampened by the irresponsible attitude of the Dealer. The bright spot in the gloomy scenario is the quality of the vehicle and the good service by the Service Center.
