I have seen this aversion & indifference to own a TATA car by many people. The same people who drive JLR’s(made by TATA) and travel in a TATA bus every day.
Brand ZEST is one of the best products by TATA motors. I had booked my ZEST diesel XMS(with ABS, airbags) variant and got the delivery last week. Soon after, I drove to Ooty from Bangalore with my family in the car and was surprised by its incredible performance. I am not an auto expert, but I wish to pen down some highlights which might help buyers in the future
Power & performance- the 90ps power shows its might. Its an effortless cruise with a highly smooth steering. The vehicle pulls itself so efficiently & the engine is almost noiseless. We were a full family of 4 adults and 2 kids. No where did I feel the lag during this 700 kms of drive. No vibtrations at all
Mileage- Got an average of around 22kms/liter(mostly with AC on all the time except while ascending the ghat road), considering the miserable state of road in the Madumalai- Gudalur stretch. Also, Bangalore- Mysore road is dotted with countless road humps and new barricades set up by the police, so I could hardly pick up speed, considering this, I guess the mileage is pretty decent. I am a careful driver and dont exceed 100 km/h speed
Ground clearance- UNMATCHED. The car cleared all the big, unscientific road humps and the big POTHOLES without any problem which is a big PLUS.
Music system- Harman system is a great experience but provison for a CD would have been an icing on the cake
Comfort- My family was comfortably seated throughout. The AC is super efficient and the cabin was chill throughout.
Gear Shift- super smooth. The brakes behave well too even upon sudden application. I did not feel tired even after the curvy drive.
I had evaluated Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and Hyundai accent- but I am proud of my decision to buy a Zest. The maintenance cost is also less.
Zest is packed with great features and a strong service network+ reliability. I definitely recommend this car to all car lovers who want quality, features, good interiors, safety and performance!.
And finally, TATAs don’t make Trucks only. They make Zest too.
