Good for chatting!

Among the places where it is relatively easier to get a place on Friday/Sat. evening is The Tavern. Not that it is not worth it but I guess it is the logistics which puts off most of the people -- and with the Colaba roads what they have in the last six months, anyone would run.

Anyway, let me come back to the place. The setting is just about the right size -- anything smaller would have made in unfeasible to be a part of the Hotel. The chairs are a bit on the taller side and it takes an effort to adjust to them (may be I experience it more because I have avg. ht.).

Amongst the drinks, I prefer to go for the usual Bacardi with cola. The add ons come along with the drink free. Amongst the mocktails, the blue lagoon is my pick -- though I have not seen it on the list of late.

The crowd around is young -- so it makes a good place for a freak out. In fact, I would rank this as one of the better places for dates -- the corner tables are perfect for gossiping. The music plays pretty loud though and the mega screen keeps one fully seized -- so even one does not have company, it is not a problem. The recent change there is that they have removed the TVs in the cabinet above the bar space. This actually puts off people on other tables at a disadv. as the mega screen is not visible all across. The manager at the bar did not come out with any reason for the change.

The real enjoyment at the place is on a Sat. -- the centre tables are removed and a dance floor is created -- but hang on, someone has to take the lead to start all of it. We spent a night there dancing all over till 2.30 am.

Among the appetisers, try out the chicken varieties, they are better than the other non-veg. stuff. Veggies, I tried alu tikki -- just ok, nothing exciting.

The service levels are satisfactory, the Manager is all the more willing to help you out. Costwise, medium range.

Recommended.
