John rocks in Taxi!

Taxi is, to an extent, inspired by the Chaning lanes. The only difference being, the English film was a thriller, while Taxi narrates the story in a comic format.

Kahani poori filmi hain!

John is a wayward man, spending his father’s money like there was no tomorrow. Nana is a failure at every job he takes, he has a short fuse, and he has told his wife he sells insurance policies when in reality he is a taxi driver. Inevitably their worlds collide and John loses the key to the locker in which his fathers will is stored. Nana finds it and manipulates him. John loses the case, all the wealth goes to an uncle and his girlfriend, Sameera Reddy, deserts him.

The film has some great moments. It is a thorough entertainer like Milan Luthria’s previous road film Kachhe Dhaage. The film is slickly paced with several engrossing moments. Milan Luthria’s storytelling is a notch above ordinary.

Nana is fantastic. He did carry Bluffmaster on his shoulders and carried this one too, admirably.

John is mind blowing as Jai! His eyes speak a lot in the film and his sense of comedy and timing leaves you stunned as the rare comic moments waft throughout the film.Sonali works hard on his role. She suits it too.

This film focuses on the male characters and therefor Sameera hardly has scope though she is very cute .

Music is good (though not hit), but there are too few songs. ’ek nazar’, ’ and ’meter’ are good numbers. Picturisation of ’ek nazar’ on John and Sameera is rich and eye-pleasing. The ’meter’ song, picturised on end, is mass-appealing. This number will be liked in Bombay only. Background score is very fine. Action scenes are good. Camerawork is exceptionally good. Production values are grand.

All in all… an entertaining project Taxi 9211 is a supreme product. It is a delight for many interested in watching engaging and compelling cinema.
