Taxi is the new age film that is short, doesnt necessarily have situational songs, has some fine performances and tells a story.
Taxi clearly defines the modern day entertainment cinema that has evolved during recent years.
After a hard days work, one wants to unwind and have a great time with friends. In that case what do you do? Watch a film like Taxi.
Taxi is essentially a film about two characters who come from different worlds or rather different strate of life. While one lives in a plush apartment - the other in a chawl.
The two characters are described to us right at the beginning of the film by none other than the voice of Sanjay Dutt.
During the course of the film you realize that even though the two are completley different from each other there is still something very common between them.
They are both angry, strong headed people who love taking revenge.
While John loves putting people down because he thinks everyone should bow before his bank balance, Nana Patekar thinks everybody is a loser including him.
The film is about one day in the life of both the characters when their lives get intertwined with each other and what happens then.
A roller coaster ride though slows down at certain places still gives you a few unexpected twists and turns.
Milan Luthria - the director - also takes help of the editing skills of Aarif Shaikh to give the film a classy and chic look.
John has successfully tried to match up to the histrionics of Nana Patekar who on the other hand has given ample space to his co-actors to perform. Even Sonali Kulkarni as his wife does a good job.
Sameera Reddy as she rightly said in an interview plays a guest appearance role. Apart from leading John in the introduction song, she doesnt really has much to do in the film.
All in all, the film provides a good two hour break and purely entertains. Do not miss the meter down song at the end of the film.
