I needed to shift 1) a three door wardrobe 2) a king size storage bed with mattress and 3) a dining table with 4 chairs from my Kestopur residence(Kolkata) to Bangalore.
I had got in touch online with TCI packers and movers from Bangalore, in and around the middle of November and I swear the person speaking with me, one Mr. Sujoy Sarkar, was so polite and so humble and so down to earth, little did I realize that he would turn out to be an impostor.
I reached Kolkata Airport on the 23rd Nov 2020 at about 11 a.m., reached my Kestopur residence and as per the pre -scheduled program with Sujoy, a mechanic from HomeTown comes to my place to dismantle the furniture, and he did his work excellently. Naturally it was impressive for me. Then came in Sujoy with his team, did all the packing and loading and it was all over within 4 p.m., payment taken and list of packages and consignment note, dated 23rd November 2020 handed over and positive assurance that my goods would be delivered at my Bangalore residence within the next 12 days, latest by the 5th of December 2020.
About a week later on calling Sarkar’s mobile, one Mr.Shaw responds saying that Sujoy Sarkar has been admitted in a hospital as he was suffering from Corona, and no update could be given to me until Sujoy Sarkar returned.Two days later I was informed that Sujoy might not live, his condition was that serious. Moreover this Mr.Shaw rather rudely told me that my goods were booked on the 1st December 2020 and how should I expect delivery within the 5th of December.
Anyway the goods were delivered on the 12th December, we had to pay Rs. 5000/= extra at Bangalore to get the goods delivered, otherwise the articles would be dumped on the road, we were threatened. Yes mechanics did re-assemble our furniture, as per the contract.
I told Sujoy Sarkar about the Rs.5000/= and he immediately agreed to refund the amount, which he is still refunding.
He doesn’t respond to my calls any longer.
There are movers and packers by the dozen, but I had known TCI to be a transporter of repute and did not expect such a happening.
Later I realized that Sujoy was a fraud.
