The way I see it, this site is the only one of its kind here in India. Reason being, nobody in India is doing what they do ’’ONLINE’’. Fine...Digit and PC Quest review stuff, they also do tech features, but they hardly update their site, and they, being in the ’’print’’ medium can hardly do it faster than these guys can.....online...
One thing I remember cleanly, the review of the Athlon XP 2600+ processor was online on this site around 20 days before Digit came to stands with the same...now that’s update...and quicker than digit...and ’’done in india’’....with indian pricing....
And another thing...by the time digit reaches my doorstep...almost all prices in the mag are outdated...i saw a comment in Techtree’s Yamaha CD Writer review where the vendor came and updated the review with the latest price and contact information...something impossible in the offline medium....so guys its just the fact that ’’online’’ is better for this kind of content than offline anyday....
It seems these guys update reviews weekly, cause they send a weekly newsletter...with new article links...but I observed that atleast news, top story, downloads and comments and all are updated daily....so it is not bad...
Just a suggestion of what it could become....see they have so many digital camera reviews there...all neatly in a section..something digit can never provide..and never keep in an updated tabulated section....if only they could ’’create’’ a comparison test of all these cameras and update it every month...i would have an ’’automatic scoreboard’’ for that month’s best camera that suits my pricerange....something impossible in the offline medium...
and why are we at mouthshut? Because we can contribute in a discussion, a review ....so its no longer a one sided affair..its not like khalid mohd. likes a movies so I have to like it too..because he is a reviewer....
This site is good because it allows me to post a comment on that review...add what I want to an already existing piece...provide users a proper forum to share their views with the community...so my friend Athlon64....if you know all those specs that are missing at TechTree.com, then please go ahead and put a comment there...contribute like u are doing here at MS...maybe they will learn something from us.....
All in all...i find the site pretty nice...easy to use...and it has a simple no-bullshit approach to the way they review stuff....something a basic reader needs....
