The site looks good. Quite a few products are reviewed out there. But the reviews are so mundane, and so unnecessarily simplified, it makes the information almost useless. Im talking about reviews of speaker systems with phrases like a little bit of distortion and good clarity. What about THD (total harmonic distortion)? SNR (signal to noise ratio)? What about crossover frequencies? Nothing. No tech details youll find here, just a few lines on what the product is for, and whether its good or not. Their testing procedures are very general, and dont justify the term testing. I can almost say they get the product, look at it, put it in the computer, see how it performs, and spit off some 1000-odd words on whatever they think about it. Read the kind of information in magazines like Digit and PC Quest, and the read the reviews here, youll know then what Im talking about. The site keeps harping Passionately Digital all over, but the reviewers arent passionate enough. Theyre just content with saying This product is good value for money! or This looks good but doesnt really justify the high price! or something as uselessly simple as that.
Then prices. Whats the point? They give official prices, and I cant think of more than three guys that I know who buy stuff at official prices. The passionately digital wade their way through the boutiques of lamington road and get their equipment at gray prices. The site proudly displays product sourced from: and some dealers name next to that, with no means of being able to contact them. No phone numbers, no email address, no website address. I have to go and find the name, then get their number, and then ask them about the product. Or I just go to lamington road and buy it.
I wouldnt go to this site for anything. I will prefer reading Digit.
