Getting inspired by a well-made film is perfectly okay. But making a complete mess of that skillfully executed flick is simply unpardonable.Teesri Aankh takes its inspiration from Mute Witness. Unfortunately, watching the desi adaptation is akin to flying in an aircraft in extreme turbulence!
ACP Arjun Singh (Sunny Deol) is cracking down on a pornographic racket run by Sudama Pandey (Mukesh Rishi) from London. He runs a racket all over up to India through his trusted henchmen Mukesh Tiwari and Murli Sharma. These baddies plant hidden cameras in girl’s hostels, changing rooms of shopping malls, honeymoon bedrooms of hotels and blackmail these women to such a degree that they fall prey to their ultimate trap - porn movies.
Arjun’s fiancee Sapna (Neha Dhupia) is in London to participate in some beauty pageant but unfortunately ends up getting trapped in an ugly game of such a gang. When they come to know that she is ACP’s fiancee they kill her. Ammu (Amisha Patel) a mute girl, an assistant director handling the pageant, witnesses the murder and becomes the next target of the villains.
Now Ammu is being chased by these villains and meanwhile her sister Aarti [Aarti Chabaria] and her partner Ashish [Ashish Chaudhary] too are in lookout for her as she has gone missing. Arjun Singh, who is searching for a lead to bust the porn racket, miraculously discovers that Ammu can be his only luck.
Story like this had the potential to engage the viewer for the next two hours, but it just doesn’t measure up to the expectations.What’s indeed surprising is that it has been directed by the same name that handled well made flick like Qayamat , Dilwale , Diljale. The film abounds in flaws…Although the basic idea is intriguing, the way director unfolds it is far from convincing. In fact, the film tends to test the patience of the viewer as it inches ahead.Besides, there are very few thrilling moments in the film.
Also, none of the performances really manage to stand out. Sunny tries hard to lend credence to his role, but doesn’t really impress. Amisha looks disinterested and goes through her part mechanically. Neha is strictly okay.
