Tehelka Newspaper

Tehelka seems to be quite a one sided newspaper, a bit overpriced, but I loved the sections where they go in and check out the literarians and their work. Still the tagline Free, Fair, and Fearless doesn’t seem to be lived up, by the newspaper. Good to see that it does not much support the Page 3 culture, which the others generally overwhelm the readers by!

A bit too heavy with politics, it should have rather focussed on hardcore stories of corruption and ’raising the flag’ as the respected editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal calls it! In comparison to other newspapers and tabloids, Tehelka is for sure for the intellectual lot, one of the things I really admire about it!

I’d surely recommend my buddied to go through the stories selectively. The newly introduced photo feature attracts. The series which describes the diary entries of the commando cop holds you tight with the paper. Also the entrepreneurial stories at the end are quite inspiring ones.

So the negatives apart, Tehelka is a class aloof!
