An enchanting story, wonderful characters, conflicting emotions but throughout the movie Tehzeeb leaves you wanting something more than a series of events strung together and the constant use of the word jaan.
There are though many opinions that conflict mine. Some viewers love Tehzeeb; in their opinion it was a wonderful family movie, that sums up the meaning of family and love in less than 3 hours. These people have to go through much explanation and a lot more persuasion in order to convince me of their view because in my opinion, Tehzeeb isnt worth watching.
Well, maybe the actors and actresses performed their parts well, but the parts didnt bring out the full potential of any of the characters. Throughout the movie, the story succeeds in keeping the audience as puzzled as the main character, Tehzeeb, who is played by Urmila Matondkar.
Arjun Rampal does well in the role of Salim, Tehzeebs husband, while Diya Mirza brings out the innocence of Nazneen, better known as Nazo, to the big screen. Shabana Azmi plays Rustana Jamal, the mother of Tehzeeb and Nazo, and Indias lead playback singer. Frankly, the director and the script didnt succeed in bringing the best performances of such talented actors to the screen.
The music is melodious, especially for those who love Indian classical. Its definately worth listening to.
But unless youre in the habit of spending your precious time watching a sentimental, emotional, heart-breaking family drama which makes little sense, I would definitely advice you against watching Tehzeeb.
