I M BACK ! I have seen so many movies but didn’t get time to write on it… But now I m back ! So I guess you’ll be seeing a lot of new now.. (hope that’s a good thing & not a bad one.)
:-)
Tehzeeb is a beautiful name , just wish I could say the same about the movie.
Tehzeeb is a beautiful, mature, talented woman. Tehzeeb was daddy’s little girl. She never knew her mother, she never was on good terms with her. She accused her mother of killing her dad.
Selfish Rukhsana Jamal she is the best singer in the India. But forgets that she is also a mother and a wife. She loves her children but has a hard time showing it. She feels that she is Miss Understood. Tehzeeb and they share a relationship in which they go back n forth insulting each other.
“Dil todna toh koi tumse sikhei”
SweetNaazushe is child, she is Tehzeeb’s responsibility. She is innocent. Only thing she wants is to be loved by her mother and enjoy life!
WonderfulSalim he is the best husband anybody could ask for. He is a novelist & poet. He supports Tehzeeb in every way possible. He loves Tehzeeb with all his heart and always woos her with romantic shayaris or filmi songs. He is the most wonderful guy to meet.
Movies is shows a little “bachpan” of Tehzeeb with her dad (Rishi Kapoor). Then the movie shifts to meeting and marrying Salim (Arjun Rampal), but her ma (Shabana Azmi) doesn’t approve of it. Rukhsana focuses on her career. While, Salim & Tehzeeb are happily married with Nazu (Diya Mirza). All hell goes off, when Rukhsana comes to stay with Tehzeeb for couple of days. Mother – Daughter go back n forth insulting each other.
Does Tehzeeb realize that her mother really loves her but just doen’t know how to show it?
Does Rukhsana finally clears her name from Tehzeeb’s dad’s death?
Do Tehzeeb & Rukhsana finally see eye-to-eye?
~~~ Why I liked this movie ~~~
!*! Urmila’s acting as a sad, frustrated, mature daughter and wife was just great. Urmila looks beautiful! She is always been one of my favorite actress – I love her acting. I just wish she finally gets an award.
!*! Shabana’s acting as a self-centered singer and a irresponsible mother is just excellent.
!*! Arjun Rampal as a loving & supportive husband and a poet is just a pleasure. He clearly stands out in all women cast & women-oriented movie. He is just the best & funny to watch out for in the movie. He’ll give u the break from crying and all the fighting with his singing bollywood dhuns.
!*! Diya Mirza as a mentally retarded girl is okay. She is cute and sweet. I like her but I really don’t think that she can’t act. She has hard time expressing herself. This movie took me by surprise that she was good in this movie, but on the other hand, she acted as a child – there isn’t much that she had to do. (unlike, Hrithik in Koi Mil Gaya).
!*! Dialogues are so beautifully written. (sorry can’t remember the writer). Dialogues are very expressive – mostly uses Urdu language.
!*! Music by A.R. Rehman is a plus in the movie (i.e Meherbaan, Na Shiqwa Hota & Sabaq Aisa)
!*! Basic concept of mother-daughter is good.
With such great actors and good concept & good music…there is a list of cons
~~~What made me think “what the hell?” ~~~
!~! Unnecessary stops to a serious concept.
!~! Khalid Mohabbat’s direction is bad (it seems that a debut made the movie) {May he should go back to writing instead of directing – think the guy who criticized so many directors (did u know he hated Shyam Benegal’s flick) is now finally getting his due}
!~! Diana Hayden, why in the hell was she in the movie? Was it really necessary to put a untalented, deep (DEEP) voiced, non-hindi speaker in the movie???? Now this shows you that all you have to do is look pretty and you can get into a movie with great actors.
!~! Unneeded scenes of Urmila singing & dancing to bollywood tunes.
!~! All the music were choreographed & set like a music video (which just annoyed me!)
!~!Scenario with Arjun Rampal & Diana Hayden – was it really needed?
!~! Very clichéd ending and also a vague one at that. ( I really didn’t get does Urmila becomes a singer?)
Overall, I still recommend you watching this movie. Since it really is a good movie just some bad stuff shouldn’t really make this movie to be a missed one. I liked all the emotions in the movie. I personally would like to see Urmila get an award for any movies (Bhoot, Pinjar, & now this Tehzeeb)
I think the movie tried to make a point that {Apologize to a person whom you might have hurt...before its too late}
-- Bhumi
P.s : I love Arjun Rampal ( I want a hubby like that – I mean singing filmi songs all the time – that’s my kinda guy) hehehe

Plz plz…somebody let Khalid Mohammad know that he needs to quit directing and quit making each and every movie written by him based on his childhood and his mother. I got the point that the poor guy had a tough childhood and he lost his mom when he was two! And am also sure that he probably gets inspired by his life to write such stories - But damn! Quit saying it – the whole world knows by now! And what I don’t get is – if he was only two how could he have such a sad relationship with his mother & also I got the point that Muslims now are very very modern – so no need to keep on saying that “Its about a Muslim family –which is very modern yet true to its Muslim religion.
[ Oh Btw this frustration about him comes from an interview I just watched of him about Tehzeeb – but give him the credits of not talking about his movie instead talking about his life. ]
