The people of Bhutan are celebrating with triumph over their efforts to safeguard the sovereignty and peace of the country. It was evident that very recently Bhutan Government has taken right actions to solve the problem of insurgents (the armed militants from the Indian states of Assam and West Bengal--ULFA, BODO and KLO) who has camped illegally in its territory that has posed threat to its security and independence.
Despite the good options given to the insurgents to leave our territory and their refusal towards it has provoked Bhutan Govt. to drive them out forcefully by the means of military actions. But the reports printed about this effort of Bhutan Govt. by one of the Indian Magazines seems inappropriate and not true. Particularly, the article titled Crackdown in Bhutan in Frontline Magazine dated 16th January, 2004. The line, lack of transparency on Bhutans side somewhere in the middle of article is disappointing and discouraging.
In fact, I would like to clearify that Bhutan government has been honest and straightforward to express clearly about the problem they were facing from these insurgents. The Frontline media has no evidence to regard with such inappropriate words to Bhutan Govt. We have driven them out of our territory and gained back out independence and soveriegnty! Thanks to Indian Govt. for their help.
