Injustice to a Doc's profession, incompetent staff

Usually web reviews are used as a mode of venting out grudge(kind of giving back) one has faced in a customer service. But it is defintely not for venting out that I am writing my first online review. Role of a doctor is very vital and it is disturbing to see the current experience/attitude of Doctors at least in Bangalore. All my experience described below happened on 22 Feb 2015.

My mother was unwell the weekend with cold and heavy wheezing. She already has lost trust in many doctors in Bangalore and prefers to restrict to known doctors. I insisted on taking her to Telerad Rx Dx(near Graphite signal) seeing her wheezing condition. We were seen by Dr.Belliappa. I told the doctor about the Derephyllin tablet that my mother took and wanted his input on that(like is it safe to take etc., as I heard it sometimes increases wheezing).

Without even listening to it properly he wrote an injection of Derephyllin, and when I added my view then he cut it out. I would normally expect a doctor an advice or input but I got nothing. He recommended an ECG and nebulization first, I was little puzzled on ECG for cold and wheezing, nevertheless went ahead. It is to be noted that the staff/sister was too novice that she made my mother lie down for nebulization and had started off. Nebulization is to be given in sitting position, was changed later after my mother complained. After seeing the ECG report he said ECG is fine now, take a chest x-ray. We felt uncomfortable as she was also much better after nebulization. He said that there are many FLU cases so it is better to do an X-ray, then I felt it was valid. So we took an x-ray, now the doctor didn’t even care to see the X-ray properly(not even in the usual tubed display). He told now things are fine from his side, but he is little doubtful and we have to consult a cardiologist. We were literally shocked. His intention now was pretty clear.

What I want from a Doctor? My expectation is that a doctor should be able to tell me based on his experience and patient’s examination when to take test and when not to. If a doctor can advise or take any decision only based on all reports then a lab technician will suffice and not necessary a DOCTOR. Doctors getting into this mode of seeing patients are cash-cows will only lead them to be seen as defaulters of trust.

All in all I don’t feel Telerad Rx Dx is a good hospital, I have had previous experiences(had a totally alarming thyroid count from their lab result) as well but thought it as one off case. But please beware of this hospital and especially this doctor. He has pushed me to write my first online review.

I have also given a review in their website, not sure if they will publish it and so am publishing it here for other’s benefit and hope the hospital re-looks and corrects themselves.

Thanks,

Janaki.
