It’s very difficult for me to reveal anything on this work of fiction from Sidney Sheldon - as it could throwaway the suspense element involved.
One thing that is sure is - you will not feel like putting down the book once it is in your hands, no exaggeration! The first part is the most thrilling (and chilling!!). The second part is a page-by-page suspense with the revelations coming in the third and final part.
The author deals with a very different kind of subject in the novel and many readers would be new to this kind of disorder (at least in this part of the world). The fact is - it exists, but maybe not to the magnitude as stated in the novel and definitely not that prevalent. This makes reading more interesting - you not only enjoy the fiction, you also get to learn the realities on this subject.
