Reality Shows are a Farce

I don’t understand the craze for reality shows. It is very evident that the television companies are creating the hype to increase their TRPs.

It is only common sense to assume that anything in front of a camera is edited. The moment things are edited it doesn’t become reality show. And above all, one can be very sure that whatever is filmed itself is not real. The whole thing will be scripted prior to the show and in most cases communicated to the actors/actresses.

I feel it all started based on the movie ‘The Harry Truman Show’, in which the whole life of the character Jim Carrey plays is filmed by a television channel. The Survivor series, Temptation Island, all are a farce and heights of misleading public.

And the theme of Temptation Island is highly debatable, if not immoral. It is not good for a society to highlight such shows and more so for young children in whose young minds the morality standards are yet to be developed. It really shows how low certain people are willing to stoop in order to make money at the expense of others.

I feel that reality shows in general and Temptation Island in particular are a waste of time and energy.

How I wish these people will channelise their time, energy and other resources for useful purposes.
