BOLLYWOOD BONANZA!

THE Year 2005 has not beein particularly good for films, the second part of the year being an absolute disaster..................the big names and banners dissapointed but what was good too see was some new talent emerging and gatting a taste of their success................there were some brilliant films from new directors. It will not be difficult to pick the ten best films of the year coz they were not many, so my obivious choice would be..................

TEN BEST BOLLYWOOD MOVIIES OF 2005 ARE:

MY BROTHER NIKHIL..................was a brilliantly directed and made film.It was made on a very sensitive issue of AIDS, where the main protaganist is suffering from the dreaded disease and how the people around him change when they come to know he is suffering from the disease, and how the people in our society have a misconception about AIDS and how brutually they look upon those patients..................insulting them. The film was able to give the message very well, it had some very touching moments..................and acting by JUHI, PURAB, VICTOR BANNERJ were great but it is SANJAY SURI who just is the clear winner in this film, he has acted brilliantly...................his expressions, the pain, frustration................everything is clearly visible on his face.My best actor of the year.

BLACK................I see SLB as a visionary, as a man who has talent to make good films but compromises on his art to sell his films which I don’t like about him.BLACK was like a beautiful painting, looked stunning in all frames, acting was great................the story about the blind girl and her teacher was well handedled, but the soar point of the film for me was it doesn’t move you, it fails to touch your heart, unlike IQBAL..................but leaving that thing behind i’ld say it was one of the better film of the year.

SOCHA NA THA....................this was a very fresh and contemporary film, well shot and excuted film................IMITIAZ ALI did a fantastic job for a debutant so did ABHAY DEOL the actor...............he was effortless in the comedy scenes, music was very nice too..................and AYESHA TAKIA was the star of this film.............cute and very spontaneous actress.Overall the film was a very good entertainer, very freshly treated.............its a kind of film you’ll like no matter what.

IQBAL.......................Well this is not one of the best film of the year but one of the best film to have come out in BOLLYWOOD in recent times, After LAGAAN this was probably the film which just moved me and surpassed all the expectations I had from these films................NAGESH KUKOONOOR did a flawless job as a director, acting by VETERANS NASIRUDDIN SHAH, GIRISH KANNAD and debutant SHREYAS TALPADE and child artist SHETA PRASAD..................was splendid, music gelled well with the film and most importantly the film was able to acheive what it aimed at without compromising on its merits.

PARINEETA....................saw the sensational debut of VIDYA BALAN, as LOLITA and to say that she was brilliant in the film ’ld be an understatement.PARINEETA was a great cinematic expereince, the script, story, sets, dialouges, music, acting everything was great..................PRADEEP SARKAR did a commendable job as the director, he handeled the film with maturity...............a great story, very well told.

YAHAAN................i think YAHAAN was one of the best film of the year, but very under-rated.SOOJIT SIRCAR did a fair and honest job, as the director..................the film had its share of flaws but since it was a film on KASHMIR, i thought it much better than the earlier films made on KASHMIR..................the film was in a way able to convey the message without being preachy.Acting in the film was good too..................with JIMMY SHERGILL standing apart from the rest, locales and cinematography was beautiful, music was haunting...................a well shot and made film.

VIRUDDH...................I saw this filma few days back on DVD, and thought why this film was not a hit or praised so much.I normally don’t like MAHESH MANJREKAR films...................but I thought in VIRUDDH , he did a great job, the film was quite similar to SARANSH but no comparison, MM treated the film differently, the first half of the film had many light moments whereas the second half had it share of sad and touching moments.AMITABH bachchan-sharmila tagore WERE the real stars of the film putting brilliant performances, the rest of the cast supported them well.

RAM JI LONDONWALE.......................i haven’t seen the original, but I really liked RAM JI LONDONWALE.It was very much like a film made in the 80’s by BASU CHATTERJI and all, very funny but situational comedy.A film about a cook, who is from BIHAR and has to go to LONDON, to earn money for his sister’s marriage...................and from there on starts the fun.MADHAVAN was a riot throughout the film, impeccable comic timing..................he was well supported by the rest of the cast, it had many funny rib-tickling moments.

BUNTY AUR BUBLY..................................I HAVE PUT thias film only for two reasons, one is the QQ QURESHI SCENE and the other is KAZRA RE, KAZRA RE..................song picturisation, otherwise I hated this film, but since I had no other option I had to put this film.

SEHAR..............................it was again an honestly made film, a very realistically made film, based in U.P...................hard-hitting in parts, it also was a message giving film, the acting was very good by the whole cast.................WITH arshad warsi, pankaz kapoor STANDIND apart.

PS:I haven’t seen MATRABHOOMI or HAZARO KHAWASHEI AISI....................so cannot put them in this list.

So this completes my list of some of the good films of the year 2005.....................i hope the year 2006 TURNS OUT to be even better than this.HERE’S WISHING YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.
