Google Earth!

This is a review about the fabulous s/w that Google is come up with - GOOGLE EARTH! (Well, I couldn’t find a proper category for this one! So just put it in the  ’’freeware’’ category.)

’’For anyone who has ever dreamed of flying...’’ ... This is what ’’NY Times’’ says about this software!

The idea is simple... yet innovative and must have been  very very difficult to implement!

It’s a globe that sits inside your PC.

The software has a sophisticated streaming technology and collection of satellite

images plus a lot of geographical info so that it delivers the data to you very very effectively.

Tell it what you want to see.. where you want to go.. and it’ll show you the place ..

give you driving directions.. show you the details of the tourist places.. hotels etc.. click and zoom on the globe and it’ll take you to any place on earth that you want to explore! You can even go in outer space and see the Earth.. tilt and turn and see the beautiful planet from all angles!

You can get a free download of this one for personal use. ( From earth.google.com)

You can also get payed versions: Google Earth Plus that costs $20* and Google Earth Pro which costs $400

I got my Free google earth copy from a friend and I loved it instantly...

Minimum configuration Required: ( as per google’s website )

Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows XP

CPU speed: Intel® Pentium® PIII 500 MHz

System memory (RAM): 128MB

200MB hard-disk space

3D graphics card: 3D-capable video card with 16MB VRAM

1024x768, 32-bit true color screen

Network speed: 128 kbps (’’Broadband/Cable Internet’’)

Yes! Thats a bit too much for a home PC! well at least in india...

I got my s/w on my office machine :O ;) :)

If you want to see any cities in India, you might be disappointed by the clarity of the imagery. It has more imagery of the United States than other countries currently.

Also the images are taken apparently sometime in last 3 yrs.. if you go for places in

the US you can even see roads, building, cars parked on the roads!!! believe me! its

amazing!

Do get ur free copy of Google Earth and start exploring!
