10 is too small a number as there are many many hindi movies which I love to watch over and over. but I will try to make a shortlist by including movies from various genres. The orders are random. the list goes: (i will add reviews later)
Sholay: any hindi movie list would be incomplete without it. It has it all. A complete desi movie, and characterization so strong that many astists were typecasted forever. A perfectly made commercial movie, which kick started a desi genre of itself, in parallel to the hollywood westerns.
Sahib, Biwi Aur Ghulam: I would have liked to include Pyaasa and Kaagaz ke Phool too, but this one stands out.

Satya: gangster movies were never this good.

Ijaazat, Trishul, andaaz apna apna, lekin, ghaayal, wo kaun thee (scariest horror movie made in Hindi), bombai ka babu, satyakaam (the finale and what it stands for was amazing), baat ek raat ki, naam, shor (for all its mushy stuff, it was a good movie), do gaz jameen ke neeche (only ramsay movie worth watching), mera naam joker, shree 420, teesri kasam (probably one of the very few examples of a great movie based on a great piece of literature (by ’’Renu’’), while also following it religiously; Guide was just an interpretation of the book), arth, koshish (its a sin to leave this one out..
I will probably update the list as I watch more movies.
