1.SHOLAY-One of the greatest hindi movies of all time.It contains all the contents to be a great cinema.Directed by ramesh sippy its his best work till date.it has all the masala like love, action, revenge drama, comedy , great music but above all it is directed so beautifully that it does not look like any other bollywood movie.Its shows some under lying emotions such as jai’s untold love for radha, thakur’hatred for gabbar.It has somr great actors of indian cinema like amitabh bachchan, dharmendra, sanjeev kumar, jaya bhaduri and amjad khan.Great performandes, evergreen music is what makes it on my top of the list.It also has that rustic kind of feel with dacoits, horses, sand etc.RATING:10/10
- RANG DE BASANTI- A truely thought provoking movie by rakeysh mehra.A story of five delhi university students who are enjoying their life and dont give a damn whats gong on in this country.They are living in this society driven my consumerism and corruption untill they meets a documentary filmmaker who is making a movie on the revolutionary and ropes these students ti play the roles of the revolutionaries.Initially they refuses to be part of it but later when they agrees to do the movies the events of past and present merges and changes their thinking a they stand up for a cause.A great movie with never told before story, a new style of story telling, great performances specially by Aamir khan, Siddharth and Kunal kapoor, great music.I dont think it has any minus points even songs doesn’t hurdles the story telling rather it moves the story forward.RATING:10/10
3.JAANE BHI DO YAARON-A black comedy directed by kundan shah.His best movie ever.It tells the situation of our country comically.It has great actors like naseeruddin shah, om puri and pankaj kapur.It really arises questins in our mind.The movie was made when all the units members were new including actors, director.cinematographer.Great comic sequences like the Ramlila one, after watching the movie you dont think of the comic sequences rather you think of the climax scene where the protogonists are in jail and in background ’’saare jahan se accha "song is going on.One of the best scene I have seen.RATING :9/10
4.GUIDE-Directed by vijay anand a adpatation of R.k narayan novel starring dev anand and waheeda rahman is one of the most beautifully made movie ever.Its one of the movies where Dev anand really acted.One of the most most beautiful scene in the movie is that when rosy’s husband goes out and than rosy takes a paayal and stars dancing and singing the song’’aaj phir jine ki tamanna".It has some evergreen songs like "gaata rahe mera dil", "aaj phir jine ki tamanna".One of the best book adaptations ever.RATING :9/10
5.MERA NAAM JOKER-A Box office dud but personally I think its raj kapoor’s best work.A story of a man’s journey from his adulthood to the point when he is working in a circus as a joker and he gets the news that his mother is dead but he still keeps working because its a work of a joker to make the world laugh irrespective of his personal problem.It beatifully shows the adolescene crush of young raj kapoor played beautifully by young rishi kapoor.RATING: 8/10
6.SARFAROSH-A john mathew matthan movie starring Aamir khan, Naseeruddin shah and Sonali bendre.A movie that shows realistically the cross border terrorism sponsered by ISI.Its Aamir khan’s best work till date.I think he should have won National award for it.Brilliant performance by naseeruddin shah also.A good performance by a non-performerer like sonali bendre.Great music by by jatin-lalit specially the ghazal by jagjit singh and also a scene-steller Performance by mukesh rishi.Thte film nicely shows the present communal situation of the country .RATING:8/10
7.ARDHSATYA:The film which gave us a great actor like Om puri, directed by Govind nihalani the film is a story of a police officer who becomes a police officer because he was forced by his father to get into the police officer but after entering into the force he comes to know the harsh rality of the system runned bt corript politicians and mafia.One of the best cop drama ever.RATING:8/10
8.ZAKHM: A biographical movie by Mahesh bhatt which tolds the story of the protogonist whose mother is a muslim and a second wife of his father.It beautifully depicts the relationship between the son and the mother under communal tension.A brilliant performance by Ajay devgan for which he won national Award.RATING 7.5/10
9.KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI: It must be a surprise is this list but personally its one of my favorite love story.I have seen this movie umpteenth times.It starred the famous pairing of Shahrukh-Kajol.But this film is really imprtant for Karan johar and Rani mukherjee because its the movie which made them stars.Brilliant music by Jatin-lalit.It started a trend of candy floss romance, feel good, song and dance kind of movie.A trensetter movie. RATING:7/10
- BOMBAY: A mani rathnam movie, it is a love story of a brahmin boy and a muslim girl, under the backdrop of 93 riots of mumbai.Mani rathnam’s one of the best work.Great music by A.r rehman.It reallyristically shows about the riots of 93.RATING 6.5/10
