I have always loved watching Hindi films but mostly the old ones, the films of Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Basu Chatterjee, Nasir Hussain and all those highly proficient directors. The old films were so simply made, clean(devoid of any vulgarity)and sensible with amazing music and performances.Now-a-days the films are made with the sole intention of earning money. They are lavishly made with huge sets and designer costumes but the soul is missing.Though I am not against these new films, its just that they are not good enough to stay in your mind forever. So ill put forward some of my favourite films, mostly the ones of Hrishikesh mukherjee whom I am a big fan of and a few new ones too. These are a few favourite films of mine which I always try to catch up with.
CHUPKE CHUPKE:I am sure therell hardly anyone who must not have seen this amazing film.Chupke Chupke directed by one and only Hrishikesh Mukherjee was a laugh riot from start to end and it is one of the most amazing comedies I have ever seen. There is no over-acting, no crudeness, just plain simple situational comedy.Dharmendras scenes with Om prakash were a treat to watch and so were Amitabh.B scenes with Jaya Bachchan. This film is not to be missed.Great comedy.
TEESRI MANJIL:This film is one of the best mystery film I have seen.Teesri Manjil was a Nasir hussain film directed by Vijay Anand and starred Shammi Kapoor, Prem nath and Asha Parekh.Tha film had some amazing music from R.D.Burman too, this was probably one of the only mystery film which had such great music.I am not gonna leak much bout this film coz its a suspense film but Teesri manjil is a wholesome entertainer and a film u should not miss out.
ANAND:Well, i need not say anything about this classic from Hrishikesh Mukherjee, its just that it is one of the best Hindi films ever made and everytime I watch this film I have a tear in my eyes.Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan were just top class and the music and dialogues were so touching.Well, why cant films like these be made more often?
DEEWAR:I think a lot of films have been made with a story revolving around the good vs the bad but this flick starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor was simply amazing. The treatment of the film was so slick and stylish and the dialogues were to die for from Salim-Javed.Ild consider Deewar as one of Amitabh Bachchans finest performances and his dialogue delivery was superb.Deewar is a classy film. Not to be missed.
CHASHME BUDDOOR:I love this film and it is one of my favourite. This film directed by Sai Paranjype was a light hearted fun film about three friends played by Farooq Sheikh and Rakesh bedi-Ravi Baswani(both of them are a riot in this film). These three have given great performances along with Miss Chamko(Dipti naval)and Saeed Jaffrey(Lalan Miya). If you havent seen this film, watch it and I am sure you are going to have a rollicking time.
JO JEETA WOH SIKANDER:Among the new films J.J.W.S is an all time fav of mine.Mansoor Khan came up with an absolutely different and youthful film set against the background of a cycle race btw two rival schools. The treatment of the film was so real and natural.Aamir, Mamik, Deepak tijori and Ayesha made this film memorable with their great performances. And who could forget the song Pehla nasha which was a rage in those days.Overall an amazing film.
ANDAZ APNA APNA:Well, i love comedies and thats why this is one of my favourite film.Andaz apna apna is an amazingly funny film with Salman, Aamir and Paresh rawal giving superb performances. If you havent seen this film just catch up with it and check out in particular a scene which is towards the end btw Aamir, Salman and Paresh Rawal on a Cycle.GOSH!WHAT A FUNNY SCENE!Just watch the film and you will fall down laughing.
DIL CHAHTA HAI:Another remarkable fillum from a debutant director Farhan Akhtar.A film about three friends and their dreams and love-life was treated with amazing maturity and classiness. The film had superb music and dialogues too.The performances of each actor was splendid.I think this film is a favourite among all youngsters and its a favourite of mine too.
So these are a few of the films I love to watch and I have most of these films in my collection and keep watching them often and havent got bored of them.
