My personal, entirely personal view is cinema that talks about humans and not about some strange outlandish thing is the best that there can be.Hindi films are in a class of their own. They are all about paisa vasool. The first ten movies I recall instantly are:
Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi:The film is not only hilarious, careful reflection reveals that hard, diligent labour has gone into creating the plot.
Mr. India:The quintessential indian man, Arun Verma and his brood of jolly kids fill this fantasy.
3.Masoom:Jugal Hansraj excels as the cute kid from a different world.
4.Sholay:Indias most wanted, Jai and Veeru take on Gabbar to create masala magic.
5.Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge:Indian culture vs Western openness.
6.Josh:All about petite svelte Ash Rai.
7.Amar Akbar Anthony:The baap of all lost-and-found films.
8.Raja Jani:Hema Malini as the gamine Shanno is unforgettable.
9.Baazigar:Shah Rukh Khan came, saw and conquered, forever.
10.Pakeezah:Tragic, lavish and entirely authentic.
