Romance has been the key ingredient of Hindi films since the inception of BOLLYWOOD...At least till 3-4 years back, no film was complete without a love angle and without some duets picturised on hero-heroine on some exotic outdooors usually foreign locales...While over the years, most of the romantic films have had the same oft repeated formulae there have been some amazing romantic films which have had those magical moments which has still managed to sustain romance in BOLLYWOOD....
Chosing ten didnt turn out to be very difficult as I havent watched maximum old romantic classics so almost all my choices are comparitively new films...
Since, I have word constraints I wont go in details about the story, screenplay..
heres my list of top ten romantic films, in no particular order:

10.Silsila(1981)
Starring:Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Shashi Kapoor(sp.app)
Director:Yash Chopra
Many say this film was not very different from Amitabhs real life scenario at that time when he actually was rumoured having a strong affair at that time..Though this film bombed at the box-office, today its considered a classic...For me the main star of the movie was Sanjeev Kumar who does a brilliant job as the unsuspecting and loving husband of Rekha..Jaya Bachchan as the silent suffering wife also does a fine job...Rekha has never looked so beautiful before, she looks stunning in the movie and the scenes between her and Amitabh are a treat to watch..Songs like ye kahaan aa gaye hum, dekha ek khwab, pehli pehli baar, rang barseare best loved Amitabh songs even today..

9.Bobby(1973)
Starring:Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Prem Nath, Pran
Director:Raj Kapoor
This was a pivotal movie in Bollywood and gave us two fresh faces Rishi & Dimple. It created a sensation and fashion phenomenon within the emerging middle class youth culture of India. The clothes worn by Dimple Kapadia became a rage..
The story of Bobby was nothing new. Rich mans son falls in love with a fish mongers daughter and against parental adversity the teenagers prove that love conquers all. What is astounding about this film is the freshness of the performances by the two lead actors, Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor. There is something magical about the naive portrayals of Dimple and Rishi.
The music till today is extremely popular with songs like jhooth bole kauwa kate, hum tum ek kamre main bandh ho, aksar ik ladka is hal main, main shayar to nahin..

8.HUM TUM(2004)
Starring:Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Kirron Kher, Rishi Kapoor
Director:Kunal Kohli
I simply love this movie for Saif Ali Khan, and for me this is his best performance and he truly deserved the National Award...
This Bollywood take on When Harry met Sally works only because of awesome performances from Saif and Rani and a great music score with songs like hum tum, chak de, ladki kyon..
Saif is brilliant in the comedy scenes as well as the emotional scenes and my favorite scene has to be the scene where he meets Rani outside the church after Jimmy Shergills wedding...

7.RHTDM(2001)
Starring:R Madhvan, Dia Mirza, Saif Ali Khan
Director:Rajeev Menon
Kick me if you want but I stand by this movie..This movie had certain scenes which really had a lingering effect on me..Especially the scene where Dia acknowledges her love for Madhvan, and the climax...
This movie also had a good comedy track going side by side with Vrajesh Hirjee mouthing some really funny one-liners..The music obviously is amazing, I consider it one of the best sound-tracks in last 5 years...

6.Saathiya(2002)
Starring:Rani Mukherjee, Vivek Oberoi
Director:Shaad Ali
This was a movie with amazing natural performances by both Rani and Vivek...The first half where Vivek tries to woo Rani are amazing and has situations so real and endearing, that you instantly relate to them ..The scenes where Vivek meets Rani outside her hostel, when he tries to search Rani are amazingly shot..Even the scenes right after their marriage are very good...
Rehmans music is outstanding..I consider it his best work...Apart from the title track aye udi udi, humdum suniyo re, chalka chalka are awesome songs..

5.DDLJ(1995)
Starring:Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher
Director:Aditya Chopra
What do I say about this movie..This movie has completed 500 weeks and still going strong...It wont be wrong to say that this is one of the most watched films of Bollywood..Perhaps twenty years down the line, it will topple Sholay and other classics as well..
To me each and every frame, every scene in this movie was amazing...SRK-KAJOL chemistry on-screen is sheer magic...The songs bring out the romantic in you..
My fav scene has to be the one where Kajol invites SRK to his wedding and he just gushes and says nai, main nai aaonga

4.Kuch Kuch Hota Hai(1998)
Starring:Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Salman Khan
Director:Karan Jauhar
Yet another memorable romantic movie from the hit pairing of SRK-KAJOL...However in this movie Kajol was the show stealer..Perhaps one of her best performances as Anjali the tomboy in the first half, and then as a pretty and sensible lady in second half...Even Salman and Rani have memorable cameos...The songs though not outstanding, gel well with the situations...
Fav Dialogue:kuch kuch hota hai anjali, tum nahin samjhogi
