The year of 2002 like Teena Sri said in her review were not that overwhelming, but here is my choice of the top ten songs of 2002 that captivated my interest and clung to my heart.
10. The medley – A song made for the old and the young. This song held many tunes from many movies of time. From Bobby to Kaho Na Pyar Hai to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, this song provides a taste for everyone, as it should being twelve minutes long!
9. Tune Zindagi Mein - The female version of this song is my favourite. It is sung by Alka Yagnik. Her voice does justice to this song and she pronounces the song with such effectiveness.
8. Maar Daala - Madhuri Dixit looked exceedingly elegant in this clip. This song is sung with much power by Kavita Krishnamurthy and Kavita Subramaniam.
7. Yeh Dil Kya Kare – Haven’t seen the film yet, naughty me! Was browsing through the smashits.com site and accidentally came upon this song some how. I am glad that I did come upon on accident. I have to buy the c.d now!
6. Humne Tumko Dil De Diya Alka Yagnik sings to her fullest in this gorgeous song. I love the background music that compliments her amazing voice.
5. Ishq Kamina – Shakti wasn’t one of my best films of 2002 but Ishq Kamina did hold a place of credit in my list. This song has the potential to make you want to dance, so beware of that if you’re thinking of putting this track on!
4. Bardaasht – Another dance buster. I really like the video clip. I’m not really into male singers but I enjoyed the male singing in this song.
3. Sharara – Although I didn’t enjoy this movie much(Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai) I must say that Sharara sung by the one and only beautiful Asha Bhosle, livened up the film. Asha is somewhat getting older now but still she holds onto her lustrous gifted voice. This song is sung with such vibrancy and tenderness.
2. Dola Re Dola – If you have already read some of my reviews you will know by now that I’m in love with the film Devdas. Everything about this film to me seems to be so magical. It’s just a beautiful film! When I went to the many Diwali functions in New Zealand this year there was always an item with this song, it is so popular over here. This is the reason as to which I have placed it as number two. I too adore this song.
1. Silsila Ye Chahaat Ka – Absolutely stunning song sung by debut artist Shreya Ghosal. It holds rhythms of traditional and modern music that’s added with lyrics of exquisite meaning.
Well folks that is my favourite list of songs from 2002. Other songs that I’ve enjoyed also are-some of which aren’t from 2002-Radha Kaise Na Jale, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya, O Sanam-Lucky Ali, O Re Kanchi, Andekhi Anjaani.
Love to hear your insights, and favourite songs as well!
