When it comes to computer games I can say that I almost know it all. I must have played at least 100 PC Games, even at this point of time there are about 25 games installed on my PC. Well enough of what I do, you must have figured out by now that Im a hardcore gamer. Note: The games listed are not 1 to 10 but all 10 are at par with each other. If you too will play all of them you will find it hard to rank them.
Well, here goes:
HALF LIFE - Gordon Freeman the character that changed the way a rpg shooter was played. A terrific storyline matched up with a terrific game engine and lovely graphics, Half Life made more fans in the world than any other game would have.
FIFA 2002 - Blink an eye and EA comes out with Fifa 2002. Its already out and I still havent got my hands on it. But the fact is that the FIFA series by EA Sports can never ever be matched by any football game in the world. Superb graphics, amazing gameplay. The professional and world class levels are so challenging that when you score a goal you actually feel like running with your shirt off. If you are interested slightly also in Football this ones surely for you.
Brian Lara Cricket - What Codemasters did to cricket EA Sports couldnt do. This is perhaps the only sport which EA hasnt made the best game of. On the contrary Codemasters has managed to produce a jewel. Brian Lara Cricket is every cricket fans dream come true. The range of shots, the gameplay and the commentary too is too good. And with blconline.com offering lovely updates and tweaks for the game you can go crazy with your favourite game of cricket. You can play a one day or a test match or a test season or a world cup. Even day-night matches are featured. Get it now!
Need for Speed(Porsche Unleashed) - Porsches and just porsches. mind blowing locales to drive them. The best of the cars and perhaps the best looking tracks to be challenged by the computer. What more do you want. Drive a 1956 Porsche or the latest 2001 Boxster S or the 911 Turbo, the choice is yours. Hey, but you better have a 32MB graphics card on ur PC. Nothing more to say than enjoy the rides!
Colin McRae Rally - Another driving game but in total contrast to what you would counter in NFS. Here control on various surfaces through twisty roads and curves is the key to winning a rally. Rally driving is really exciting if you are interested in car games that is. The locales rendered in the game are officially licensed from the real rally calendar and are sure to make your adrenaline rush. There is a wide choice of cars available. The key to winning is not to push your car too much to damage it heavily. The multiplayer option is truly amazing.
Commandos 2: Men of Courage - No other game gives you the reality and effect of the World War 2 than Commandos 2. The graphics and sound effects are truly amazing. I was really astonished with the visual outlook of the game. The gameplay is so engrossing that I almost forgot that I am supposed to go to work and socialise with family and friends. When you are playing a level you just cant wait for the next one. The controls are a bit difficult to pick up at first as the tutorial is just another level where you gotta do your own reserach with the keys. But once I got familiar with the keys the enemies were in deep trouble.
Even the characters in the game are lifelike and you start to relate with them emotionally. My favourite character is the one modelled on Sly Stallone(Rambo), I just love to creep behind the enemy and slit their throats with my army knife. If you havent played Commandos 2 you are not a gamer.
Hitman: Codename 47 - When I first saw the pack of the game I decided that I wanted to have a crack at it. I bought the cd within a few days and I was just overwhelmed at what I experienced. This one is just too good. The concept, the graphics, the soundtrack, the gameplay is just amazing. You are a secret agent born from nowhere. You are given different missions by your agency where you have to either eleminate a few terrorist group members or plant bombs in cars without getting noticed. A perfect blend of stealth and action. Play it to believe it. By the way, the story has a very exciting end, just like a hollywood thriller.
Quake 3 - The game that took multiplayer gaming to its peak is Quake. Quake 3 is a pure 3d shooter that is a rage worldwide. You can play the game alone but the real fun to play is the multiplayer game. I have had the chance to play this game with friends of mine and believe me its an experience thats out of the world. The different levels and the spirit to frag each other to death is just exciting. Quake 3 is in fact the most popular game in the world. Even NOW GAMER holds gaming contests involving Quake online.
Trespasser - This is one game that is not popular with many people, but that fact is that it is surely at par with the best. The game is set on the Jurassic Park theme. You are trapped in the ingen labs which have already been devastated by the T-Rexes and his friends. Somehow you gotta find your way out and survive the attacks of these predators. The landscape and vastness of the visual world is like I have never seen before. You with spend hours on the game without realising. The gameplay is ultra realistic and just like in real life you cant carry more than 2 guns with you. The dinos too are really exciting and if you liked the movie you will love to be in the game.
SWAT 3 - I dont think any game based on crime and police activity can get more realistic than SWAT 3. You begin your career as a police officer and take your teams to various locations where crimes are reported. The missions range from a hostage situation to a explosives vendors hideout. The gameplay is like real life. One bullet and you will be taken out. No heroisms, no macho stuff. It takes a lot of decision making to choose your strategy, whether to go in with a bang or sneak in a surprise the accused. The only problem with the game is that there are only 10 missions. I wish there were around 50 missions:)
