Selecting 10 favorite scenes of Indian movies was much difficult for me than selecting 20 favorite songs of Mukesh or Kishore. As while music is my passion, I am sure that Indian music is BEST in the world, am not so passionate about movies and can’t say the same thing about the movies.
Our movie makers tend to follow a certain track rather than to do something different, although there have been FEW exceptions. Nowadays the number of new movies I watch has fallen as low to 2-3 movies an year.Still I’ve tried to choose my FAVORITE (I wonder why they use word best in selections like these) 10 scenes of Indian movies, among the scenes I remember.Like my selection of songs, this selection may also be dominated by tragedy, but you never know!!!! there may be a surprise or two.My choices are little different so this list may not be appreciated by the majority, as they are not remembered as ’’classical’’ scenes but my job was to give my choice honestly and rest is on you!
10. Naughty Aunty
Movie- Chachi 420
One of the funniest movies to be ever made.My favourite scene is when he sees the advertisement by his (former) father in law for requirement of a maid on a piece of paper.As he starts reading it air takes the paper away and the paper is somehow glued on lower back of a walking girl .So to read the advertisement Kamal starts following her. And from some distance his former Wife and Father In law (Who are going in a car ) see it and think that Kamal is following the girl and looking greedily at her A**.
9. Proud to be an atheist
Movie-Legend of Bhagat Singh
It must be a surprise entry for the most, but being an atheist, I have my reasons for liking it. I’ve always idolized our great freedom fighters and among them Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh has a special place in my heart. When Ajay devgan(Playing Bhagat Singh ) is about to be hanged, the executioner asks him to pray God. He replies that neither I believe in God, nor I am afraid of death.Am glad that Raj Kumar Santoshi (Director) didn’t tried to hide that part of Bhagat Singh’s personality, as I feel that MOST of Audiances must haven’t enjoyed listening to such words, and was one of reasons of this movie not being a hit. {Am sure if a Karan Johar/Suraj Barhjatiya had made this movie, they would have shown Bhagat Singh Praying!!!! just to make people happy.}
Dilemma of A soldier

At time of war a soldier’s job is to win the war.And to win the war one has to kill the enemy. But is it as easy as it sounds ?In Border, when military regiment of Sunny deol attacks a group of informers, and starts killing them, one informer gets wounded and touches feet of Akshay Khanna.Akshay is a young soldier and this is his first experience of an encounter. And Akshay tries his best but he is not able to shoot him.As what he sees in him is a wounded human looking towards him for mercy. Finally his commander shoots him.And immediately Akshay starts vomiting ! Commander shouts at him for behaving like this and says that wars are won by killing the enemies, we must shoot them .The facial expressions of Akshay were exceptional in this scene.
Who is Manglu?

Anil Kapoor goes to newspaper to give advertisement for a tenant for his house to earn some money. Reporter of that paper, Sridevi is supposed to take interview of a famous criminal, Manglu in her cabin . Anil enters the cabin of Sri for his purpose.
Sri Devi: why you do such things ?
Anil: money, it can make people do even worse things.
Sri: How old were you when you firsr went to jail ?
Anil : I must have been about.....WHAT? what are you talking about me and jail ?
Sri: Manglu don’t be shy
Anil: Manglu?who manglu?
Sri: If you are not manglu what are you doing in this room?
Anil: You are also in this room and I think you are also not manglu
6. Comedy of Love
Movie- Woh Saat din
Debut movie of Anil Kapoor.He plays role of a struggler who wants to be a famous singer.Padmini, daughter of his landlord loves him , but he is too simple to understand this.She gets an idea, to give him a clue of her love and asks him to sing ’’Main tumse pyaar karta hoon, tere bina ji nahin sakta’’ .(I love you and can’t live without you)Without understanding the reason why she chose these lines, Anil sings them in a very funny way.Frustrated by this and also amused by simplicity of her lover, Padmini asks her to sing ’’Main akal ka ghonchu hoon, ullu hoon, gadha hoon ’’(I am a fool, owl and donkey) .And he sings these lines in a way which can’t be written in words!
5. Tragedy of Silence
Movie- Koshish
Amazing movie about deaf and dumb by Gulzar and equally amazing performances by Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bhaduri .My favorite scene will be when Sanjeev is trying to play with his child with a toy that makes sound. But his child don’t see towards the toy when Sanjeev shakes it so that its sound gets child’s attention of the child. Sanjeev gets worried that his Child is also deaf like his parents and rushes to doctor, The doctor then checked that the toy was not having the pieces of stones which can make sound when it is shacked.
4.Modern Mahabharta
Movie- Jaane bhi do yaaro
’’Draupdi CheerHaran’’(When Dushashan tries to underess Draupdi ) is one of the most important scenes of Mahabharta.That scene has been replayed in climax of this movie with Satish Shah as a dead man playing role of draupdi and all the characters from that scene of Mahabharta acting brilliantly to make it perhaps the funniest scene in history of Indian cinema.It can’t be explained in words, and is a must watch .
3. I wish I loose this bet
Movie-Anand
.Raghu Kaka is going to his village to get a medicine for Anand who is in last stage of cancer. Johney Walker bets that no medicine or prayer can prevent from cancer. He wants to bet with Raghu saying that he never looses a bet.Later he came to know that this medicine is needed for Anand. He meets Anand, who is hardly breathing, and Johney can’t resist his tears, virtually runs from the room saying ’’Yahin milenge Jaichand, Itni jaldi parda nahin girne doonga’’. ( we will meet here, I will not let the curtain fall this early (.Outside room he starts weeping and wishes that he looses this bet to Raghu kaka.
2. Anand Marta Nahin, Anand Marte Nahin

Hrishi Da was at his ultimate best in Anand. It is climax scene of Anand . Anand (Rajesh Khanna ), a cancer patient is having his last breaths. Amitabh , while not having any relation with him, is trying his best to save him . Although he don’t believe in homeopathy, he rushes to get a homeopathy medicine, which he heard that can make dying people live . (Or maybe he knew the inevitable and just couldn’t see him dying) ?Anand is calling for Babu Moshai (Amitabh ) with every breath. He knows his end is near and PERHAPS is also sacred of death but don’t want to say it. So he says to Amit’s fiancé ’’Renu ji I don’t want to die, He (Amit) can’t live without me’’ .When he feels that he has just few breaths left, he asks Dr. Bhaskar to play audio of a talk between him and Amit .He dies before Amit returns and his last words are ’’Babu Moshai!’’ !!!! Amit returns and see him dead, he starts shouting and shaking the dead body when suddenly a voice comes ’’Babu Moshai’’.......... Do I need to say anymore?
