Now guys, before you ridicule me for posting this under the wrong category, or in any case, are disinterested to know about me, please read on further and then leave if you may wish to! I am very much within my limits. This is not my resume, nor do I please to popularise myself through this review. In case you noted, and I am sure you did, I have highlighted the year in my date of birth. This is done to convey to you a simple message in a complicated manner.

What message? Well, being born in 1987, I haven’t been lucky enough to check out many of the old classics. Right from my childhood, I have not been too fond of old movies, and have hardly been treated to one. Yup, I love and do listen to many of the old songs, but sitting through a film is just not for me! So finally, I do come to the topic. Most of the Top 10 scenes that have the privilege of being featured in my review are either recent or not-so-old films, and (I know ’either’ is always followed by ’or’ but I am forced to use ’and’ here) a few of the films made before my birth :-)

In no particular order.

------------

Sholay: Well, you know, this film is the second-longest running film in the History of the Indian cinema. Thank me for providing you with this info if you were unaware of it! There is the particular scene in this film which touched my heart deeply. The death sequence of Amitabh Bachchan, who sacrifices his own life for the sake of his friend, Veeru, played by Dharmendra. Their unaffected-by-circumstances friendship is bought to the fore by the sad version of ’’Yeh Dosti’’, which will surely create a deep impact on all viewers. Watch it!

Maine Pyaar Kiya: Salman Khan’s first film with the Barjatyas, he was roped in for his forthcoming Hum Aapke Hain Koun [??] as well. For the unknowns, Salman had pro... What? The memorable scene? Alright! Basically, the film gathers momentum ONLY AFTER Salman realizes his duties. Towards the end, Salman is to bring Rs. 2000 before Alok Nath to get the hand of Bhagyashree. He does, but the notes are all torn thanks to the baddie [Monish Bahl]. Nath says that these notes were as good as paper, and he wouldn’t be able to feed his darling daughter even do waqt ki roti with it. Salman promises to work again, when the heart of Nath melts, and he accepts him. The best scene in an above-average film!

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge: The longest running film :-) sorry for the in-review advertisement, but if you may please, you can check out my review on this if you haven’t. My pick - The scene between SRK and Kajol in a hotel room, where SRK jokes about what happened between them during the previous night. Kajol gets serious and sheds tears, but SRK then consoles her saying that he was just kidding yaar! Too Indian! And too good!

Mission Kashmir: This good film didn’t do that well due to the opposition from Adi’s [not zuludancing] Mohabbatein. Nevertheless, those who have seen the film can never forget the climax. Hrithik is in a dilemma whether or not to kill his abba, Dutt, and his expressions are truly out of the world. And so is Dutt’s effective performance in it! ’’Mujhe maar daal Altaaf, lekin kashmir ko bacha le mere bete’’, are the words by Dutt that you echo even long after!

Lagaan: Oh God! Only one scene! I was thinking of adding a new topic via MS - ’’Ten Best Scenes in Lagaan’’, but thought no one would give it a read coz of my stupidity of doing so, so settled for this one finally! Just recall the final over of the match in the game. Not once do you feel that it is being played by Bhuvan and his men for Champaner, but for you indeed! You know what is to happen, and who is to win, but you switch off your cellphone when your g/f or b/f [yup, this was equally popular among the women as well] calls you. Ever seen such an absorbing an involving finale even in a real match?

Dil Chahta Hai: Khan again. After SRK and AK, now a combination of AM and SAK. The intermission point is the case under study here. The one where Akshaye slaps Aamir for his carefree attitude, which had hurt his feelings for his lady love Kapadia! The rift between two of the three thickest of friends, it is outstandingly treated by Farhan Akhtar! You do regret for their departure!

The Legend of Bhagat Singh: The final sequence when Ajay [Bhagat Singh], Sushant Singh [Sukhdev] and D. Santosh [Rajguru] are executed. Prior to that, the ’’Rang De Basanti’’ song evokes patriotism from the deepest layer of your heart. By far, the most patriotic moment ever witnessed on the Indian screen.

Tere Naam: Again, I am back to the climax of most of the movies. Salman Khan’s comeback venture, it clicked with millions of viewers, half of whom were Sallu fans. For general info, ’’Tere Naam’’ has the best opening for any film since 1995, at par with that of hum Aapke Hain Koun. The finale of this one is to be seen to be believed. The sad ending may not appeal to all, but those who appreciate it, are sure to be moved to tears.

Munnabhai M.B.B.S.: Bole to, solid picture thi mamu! Arre apun to kya ek hi scene dhundne ko bolta hai, chahe to hazaar nikalu kya? Ae Circuit, arre bata na in logo ko woh hospital wala scene.

Circuit - Sahi hai bhai! Ae, ab zyada naatak nahi kya. Chup chaap DVD kahreed, aur hospital wala scene nikaal jahan par bhai baba ke saath carrom khelte hai, aur unko theek karte hai. Yeh doctor log kisi kam ka hai ich nahi bhai. Main to kehta hoon ki tum yahan par pura din full-time wala doctor ban jaao.

Ek Hasina Thi: Hahaha! Am back to the climax again!!! Urmila adopts a unique way of teaching Saif a lesson. Believe me guys, women went wild in the theatre when I watched it. They cheered Urmila all the way. Moreover, even men seemed to give a big round of applause to Urmila, and her courage, determination and her... wateva! Saif, on being given a hint of what was to happen to him, in disgust, says, ’’Sarika, I’ll Ffffff....’’ Loud cheers followed this one!

------------

What are your unique feelings about these special scenes guys? Am I missing some other brilliant masterpieces, which I am (till now) deprived of? Do inform me of the same in the Comments section. I’ll make a collection of it for sure!
