“Milte hai is chote se break ke baad, Don’t go anywhere” *. The most beautiful words in any language. That means, I will be spared for a few minutes atleast, and I can do what I enjoy the most. Watch Commercials! Well, Commercials are the best thing to happen to television, who watches the idiotic “saas bahu” serials anyway! It is really a tough task to pick 10 favourite or memorable commercials, so many commercials, such a small list to make. I have picked 10 of the most memorable from a huge list. Here they are:
Googly : A biker dude, checking himself, his hairstyle, in his bike mirror. Suddenly he sees a pretty girl walking towards him, she smiles and then waves in his direction. “Aha… the girl is mine”, he thinks. But the girl, just walks past him to meet a plain and simple guy, with oiled hair, thick glasses. *“Ho gayi Googly” *.
Cadbury dairy milk : *Kya swaad hai…. *. It’s the final ball of the match, every one in the stadium is tense. Will the batsman hit the winning run. Well. he does, and a girl(probably his girlfriend), rushes down the aisle, dodges the security guy and starts dancing on the ground. Beautiful, better than the “Pappu pass ho gaya” commercial. *“Asli swaad jindagi ka”
Nirma : This one is an oldie. Those were the days of B/W television and Chitrahaar and this was the best commercial at that time. It had a nice and a catchy tune. Nothing too spectacular in the commercial, just some housewives shown purchasing this brand and washing clothes. This is one of the best among all the detergent commercials.
Hema… Rekha… Jaya aur Sushma….
Sab ki pasand Nirma….
Washing Powder Nirma, NIRMA!
Raymond : A school teacher prepares for his retirement. He takes one last look around the classroom and the school. As he walks down the stairs and towards his car, he sees the whole school has turned up to wish him farewell. The students are sad to see him go, one of them holds a placard saying “ To the Man who taught us everything… Please don’t go” . Guaranteed to leave your eyes moist.
IBM(Lenovo) Think pad : The Think Pad advertised beautifully by a bunch of corporate types. The settings are all every day incidences, like conversations over a cup of coffee, or visiting an office in a different city or maybe the occasional visit to a museum or art gallery. The best among the Think Pad commercials, is the one where two guys are admiring a picture of a horse at an art gallery, and comparing the horse to the various departments in their organisation, when a “not so educated” guy comes along and blurts out *“It looks like a horse to me” *.
Fevicol : All the Fevicol ads are creative with a capital C. *Yeh Fevicol ka majboot jod hai… *. And this “majboot jod” has been shown so innovatively. The best among them was the one in which the man’s shadow gets stuck to the wall. A man, walking down a lane, makes funny shadow shapes on the wall. One such wall is painted with a Fevicol ad, and his shadow gets stuck on the wall, the man moves on, only to find his shadow not following him. *…. Tootega nahi!
Majboot or what!
Mentos : The latest among the Mentos commercials. All the Mentos commercials live up to the *“Dimaag ki batti jala de.” *tag. In this recent commercial, a student is late for class, and tries to sneak in, gets caught by the teacher and is asked to get out. *Woh thi aam jindagi *. The next day, as he tries to sneak in again, but this time he turns around and walks backwards. The teacher thinks the student is trying to bunk the lecture, orders him to sit down. *…. Dimaag ki batti…burns bright
Hutch : A little boy is followed around every where he goes by his dog. *Wherever you go…. Our network follows *. It has a beautiful song, You and I, playing in the background.
You and I …. In this beautiful world,
green grass… blue skies….
Youuuu …. And Iiiiiii….
Dhara : A little boy, wants to run away from home, because no one listens to him. He feels ignored and neglected. *Main ghar chhod ke jaa raha huu *. His family knows the exact way to get him home… the perfect incentive to come home, *Jalebi *. The boy is found sitting on a bench at the railway station when he is told of the Jalebi being made at home. The mere mention of the word Jalebi is enough, the kid is home the next instant.
Nerolac : I liked this commercial more than the Asian paints( *har ghar kuch kehta hai *) commercial. Some house painters are shown painting a house and a kid is running around the partly painted house. The only option you have when you decide to paint your house is Nerolac.
Jab ghar ki raunak badhani ho….
Deewaron ko jab sajana ho…
Nerolac… Nerolac
