The theatre of human drama!

Drama by its very nature is played out by human actors. Then, why would I want to call the tennis court the theatre of human drama.Well, tennis is a very unique game. Its played by two very motivated individuals. The atmosphere is always emotionally charged. The effort behind every shot has an apparent emotional component too.Indeed, no sooner than a match commences, it becomes theatre, a battlefield with attendant drama and tragedy/comedy.But what does this have with my choice of ten best tennis players.I shall try to establish the connection. So here goes:

.Boris Becker: I am yet to see a player like Becker.Whether he won or lost he kept the crowd entertained always.

.Martina Navratilova: Never did anything flashy.Yet, won convincingly always.Wonder why?

.Monica Seles: Lot of power, awesome skill.Yet, Steffi’s admirer ended it all.

.Roger Federer: What a complete player.Has everything in his armoury.

.Rod Laver: Hardly have seen his game but he won the Grand Slam twice, once in the open era and once before it.

.Ivan Lendl: Never has anyone so technically correct tried so hard to win Wimbledon and failed.

.John McEnroe: A great technician and a maverick on the court.

.Bjorn Borg:He was what Federer is today. With the wooden racket he won almost everything and retired at 26.

.Rafael Nadal: An unorthodox player and a gutsy fighter to the core.Lots to come from him.

.Leander Paes: This Calcutta boy could have soared higher. At least that’s what we believe.
