Writing about 10 favourite movies is such a difficult thing to do. You need to sort and filter out 10 movies that you have really enjoyed watching, and thats the toughest part of writing this review.

Listed below are 10 of my favourite movies.

Dumb and Dumber : The story of two utter idiots who move around in a car designed as a dog! A full too comedy right from start to end. Jim Carrey’s antics and funny faces are a little bearable in this movie. It’s an out and out Jim Carrey type of a comedy. Jim Carrey’s character works as a limo driver. The woman, who he drives to the airport keeps her bag at the airport and boards a plane. Jim Carrey and his friend, *(donno the actors name) *travel all the way to find the woman and return the bag. The movie is all about the madcap adventures of the two friends as they travel to Aspen. The best part of the movie *(edited when shown on most of the channels) *is when a police man stops them for speeding, and drinks from a bottle, containing p…

Terminator 2 : A typical Arnold movie. Expressionless and robotic acting, and loads of violence. I can’t imagine anyone else playing the role Arnie played. It was just the perfect for him. The movie will always be remembered for “Hasta la vista … baby” and “I’ll be back”.

Back to the Future series : *That’s Time Travel for Dummies. *The story of the adventures and misadventures of time travel told in 3 parts. All the events happen in Hill Valley, and Marty’s family is in the center of all the events. The eccentric Doc Brown invents a time machine. But before he can take it for a spin, he gets shot by some terrorists and Marty (Michael J Fox) becomes the first time traveller. Part 1 deals with Marty’s adventures in 1955, the time when his parents were young. In Part 2, Doc and Marty go 30 years into the future (year 2015). Part 3 is the most interesting of the three. In this part, Marty finds himself in the Wild wild west! He goes in search of Doc who has travelled to 1885. In the end Marty comes back to 1985, whereas the Doc stays back in 1885.

Home alone : The first of the the 3 home alone movies. The other 2 were too predictable. It is the story about little Kevin McAllister (Macaulay Culkin) , and how he outwits the robbers and saves his home from getting robbed. Kevin’s folks go on a vacation, leaving poor Kevin behind. He finds himself home alone on a Christmas Eve. Apart from staying without his family, Kevin also has to deal with two robbers who realize that the kid is all alone at home, thus an easy target. He invents some innovative tricks to keep the robbers at bay. In the end, all’s well that ends well! The robbers get caught and Kevin is reunited with his family.

Silence of the lambs : A serial killer, kills young girls and puts moth larvae into their throats before dumping the bodies. A FBI special agent, is sent to track down this killer. After all the evidences lead to no where, she takes the help of Hannibal, played so brilliantly by Anthony Hopkins, to catch this killer. This movie has a special place in the 10 as I had to watch the movie 5 times to understand it. Great acting by Jodie Foster too.

Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring : The only LOTR movie I have seen. Having read the book, the next logical step was to catch the movie. The movie was simply superb, right from the acting to the designing, to the locations used for the movie. Truly deserves every oscar it got. I loved the fight scenes between the orcs and the fellowship.

Gladiator : Maximus is a general in the Roman army who is loved and respected by all his men, and by the Emperor too. The emperor’s son, Commudis has an evil plan. He kills his father, and orders his men to kill Maximus and takes over the empire. Maximus escapes, but he returns home to find his family killed by the emperor’s soldiers. He wanders aimlessly, before he is captured and sold as a slave. He returns to Rome as a gladiator. Finally he avenges his family’s death by killing the emperor.

Edward scissorhands : A mad scientist decides to make a man using different tools for body parts. He later replaces the tools with actual body parts, but dies before he could substitute the hands. The “man” he created is left behind with scissors for hands. A kind lady takes him home and soon Edward Scissorhands becomes a part of the family. But he has to deal with some criticism and ultimately goes back to the castle where he stayed before. The movie didn’t have a great story, but it did have Johnny Depp. The reason why this movie makes it to the list ;)

A beautiful mind : Mathematics genius John Nash is a teacher at Princeton. He takes up some cryptography assignment and soon gets drawn into a conspiracy web and develops a mental illness. With each passing day, he grows more and more paranoid and starts getting illusions that someone is out to kill him. With his wife’s help he starts the journey back to normalcy. I enjoyed watching this movie for the acting of Russel Crowe, who played John Nash, and Jennifer Connelly, who played his wife Alicia. Crowe’s acting of the paranoid Nash was simply brilliant.

Remember the titans : The best of the lot! The movie is based on a true story of a high school football team. It is set in the early 70’s when racism was still strong in the US. Schools were segregated, whites and blacks didn’t mix and there was a lot of bad blood in the air. A black man (Denzel Washinton) is chosen over a white man to coach the high school football team, The Titans. The white players do not like this and they decide to sit out till the coach is replaced. Gradually the players learn to put aside their differences, and play together as ONE team.
