Quietly flows the song...

There is definitely more than one way of defining’easy listening’.That song is easy to listen that is perfect. It has non-disturbing words, necessarily romantic. And it is adorned with smooth, elegant melody.I think ghazals, such as they are, meet these requirements eminently well. You do need time to get used to them initially. But once you get the hang of it-you can play the song again and again and never get tired. Here are ten fabulous ghazals.I must admit that I am not sure all of them ARE ghazals actually.Still, I am trying.

1.Ranjish Hi Sahi Dil Hi Dukhane Ke Liye Aa:Perhaps the most famous ghazal of all time, it intimidates with its negativity while entertaining with its style and class.

2.Phir Chheedi Baat Raat Phoolon Ki:Not much in terms of poetry. But what elegance, what beauty and lyricism.

Huzoor Is Kadr Bhi Na Ithlakay Chaliye:A great deal of chivalry, tons of attitude and lots of tehzeeb-influenced charm.

4.Aap Ki Yaad Aati Rahi Raatbhar:A very laidback, quiet song that hits you like a ton of bricks after you hear it a few times.

5.In Ankhon Ki Mast Ke:A very tawaif-kind of song. With a lot of ada, sher-o-shayri and all that.

6.Hoshwalon Ko Khabar Kya:A very smooth song that is no-frills but very effective.

7.Hothon Se Chhoolon Tum:A song that uses poetry and melody as foils for each other.

8.Aap Ki Nazron Ne Samjha:A song sung by a lady that has beautiful lyricism and great semi-classical poetry.

9.Chupke Chupke Raat Din Aansoo Bahana Yaad Hai:A classically created song that must be sung by a trained person.

10.Chalte Chalte Yuhin Koi Mil Gaya Tha:Again, a song that may be identified with a courtesan. With a lot of mehfil-like mood throughout.
