What is a video without a good onscreen chemistry between the pair? I think onscreen chemistry is necessary not just in the case of a couple, but also friends or for that matter whichever two/more people the song is picturised on.
So here is my list of songs where I think the actors it’s picturised on made the video worthwhile watching and loving.
*1. Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Chorenge - Sholay( Like you didn’t know) - Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra( Surprise Surprise!)*
They do look like chaddi buddies in this song playing pranks and having fun. No wonder all of us keep watching it over and over again.
*2. Jaane Kaise Kab Kahaan Ikraar Ho Gaya - Shakti( I think. Please correct me) - Amitabh Bachchan and Smita Patil*
Oh they look so much in love in the video. Smita Patil with her expressive eyes and Amitabh Bachchan with his facial expressions make this song into a beautiful video.
*3. Tum Ko Dekha To Ye Khayaal Aaya - Saath Saath - Farooque Sheikh and Deepti Naval
I simply love Farooque Sheikh’s puppy in love expression in this song. Very flattering song and Farooque Sheikh singing it is icing on the cake. The expression on Deepti Naval’s face depcits what I said in my last line.
*4. Tujhse Naraz Nahi Zindagi - Masoom - Naseeruddin Shah and Jugal Hansraj*
Not all children open upto a person very easily and because children aren’t exactly born actors the discomfort would show on their face. Naseeruddin Shah looks both pained and happy and Jugal looks happy and at ease in this video. Good chemistry I’d say.
*5. Jaane Do Naa - Cheeni Kum - Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu*
I marvelled at the acting of both Amitabh and Tabu in this movie. Amitabh could have very easily looked as a lusty man/ had a paternal look about him. Tabu could have a non expressive thing about her. But no both of them transcend the age factor and look romantically involved in this song.
*6. Tere Chehre Se Nazar Nahi - Kabhi Kabhie - Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh*
This one is actually my all time favorite song, movie as well as couple. Very fresh, very innocent and they give you a very ummmmm new crush look each and every time.
*7. Jaane Do Naa - Saagar - Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor*
Well picturised and yes that was made possible only because of how well Rishi and Dimple complimented each other.
*8. Huzoor is Kadar - Masoom - Naseeruddin Shah, Saeed Jaffery, Shabana Azmi and the lady who plays Saeed Jaffery’s wife in the movie
Koi Man Chala Gar Pakad Lega Aanchal Zara Sochiye Aap Kya Kijiyega. Playful song. Enacted very well by everyone involved. Both the men look tipsy, the women look flattered and are enjoying the attention and the onlookers are having a nice time as well !
*9. Ek Dafa Ek Jungle Tha - Sadma - Kamal Hassan and Sridevi
*Will it be repetitive if I just say that the chemistry was great between the two?
*10. Chor Do Aanchal - - Dev Anand and Nutan
*Aji sunna jaane tamanna itna to sochiye mausam suhaana kya kahega.Nutan acting a little pricey and Dev Anand is trying to make her stay. Me thinks they looked really cute together and there a lot many other songs starring both of them together but this one has been my favorite since I was a kid.
There are few others that I can think of right now.Like Ek Main aur Ek Tu starring Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor, Jab Jab Teri Surat Dekhun starring Anil Kapoor(yes even though he is maha hairy in this vid) and Dimple Kapadia, Ye Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum starring Amitabh and Rekha( they looked made for each other.sorry Jaya Aunty please don’t send goons after me), Jaane Kyon starring Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta, Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jaana Sanam starring Kajol and Shahrukh Khan, Deewana Hua Badal starring Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore, Any Dharmendra and Hema Malini song .
Phew.That’s about it.
Please forgive me for I have not mentioned many old songs as I was born in 84 and am partial towards the 80’s and 90’s.
