Just a few !

The director is known to be the captain of the ship. If a film

is declared a hit, then the people who walk away with the accolades

are usually the people one sees on-screen. But if the film is a flop

then of course the brickbats are to be faced by the director and the

director alone. A film did not do well because the director did not

have a good grasp over his craft, it is said.

In Bollywood, we are far from agreeing to the fact that even if a film

is a success it is all because of the director’s vision. There are some

who have made a name just for the plain reason that they are lucky. And

then there are some who even if they get the chance to direct a film can’t

prove to be lucky.

Here’s a list of some such directors labelled as probably the worst directors.

  1. Vikram Bhatt

For the simple reason that all his films are’inspired’ from foreign flicks.

Vikram has hardly attempted an original idea. Ghulam which was a big hit -

looking back was just a big fluke. And Raaz is the only biggest hit this year

  • but see the film if you haven’t seen it and see it again if you have already

seen it. Gosh!

  1. David Dhawan

Commercially termed director No.1 David has given more hits than flops in his

career that has lasted for more than a decade now. But for the exception of

Biwi No 1 - which is the only cleanest film he ever made - there really isn’t

any other that comes to mind to deserve credibility.

  1. A Muthu

A David Dhawan assistant. Muthu was given his big chance by Vashu Bhagnani who

thought anyone could direct a film if he was producing it. But Muthu came up

with the Abhishek Bachchan starrer Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya. Rightfully re-named

Tera Jhadoo(broom) Chal Gaya.

  1. Sohail Khan

Family name can make all the difference. Sohail launched himself as a director

thanks to his big brother Salman. Made a film called Auzaar then Pyaar Kiya To

Darna Kya(which was a hit), Hello Brother(a fa*t story) and now re-launched

himself as a leading man in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. Need I say more?

  1. Kunal Kohli

The director of the recent flick Mujhse Dosti Karoge. Just because a legend is

producing your film doesn’t mean you go ahead and make a tribute to him. Kunal

completely ruined his break.

  1. Inder Kumar

Dil was a hit and so was Beta. But what was with Raja and Aashiq? Raja starring

Sanjay Kapoor and Madhuri still managed to entertain the commercial audiences but

Aashiq was a total disaster. After giving three reasonable hits, how do you come

up with such a bad film?

  1. Tinnu Verma

Whoever invested in the launch pad of a fight director making his debut as a director?

Tinnu Verma directed Maa Tujhe Salaam. Don’t have any words for him.

  1. Anil Sharma

This man gave us the biggest hit last year - Gadar. But a classic case of luck. Otherwise

his track record precedes him. He has in the past directed films like Maharaja starring

Govinda.

  1. The director of Na Tum Jano Na Hum

Don’t even remember his name. Actually his name is Arjun Sablok.

Someone please tell these guys that there are other vocations

in the world than making films.
