Woman Liberation?

I change the channel, when ads appear, so I dont have a top 10 list. But there is one type of ad which I find very funny.

These are generally ads, which begin with praise for the Indian woman. Women are shown as pilots, police officers, doctors and so on. After all that, it turns out that the advertisement was for a washing powder! So, ultimately, women are expected to use that powder to wash clothes! I will translate their catch phrase’tum hakdar ho kuch beheter ki’ means, you deserve something better.

I thought that better means, job opportunities and such things. As it turned out, the ad implies that women only deserve a better washing powder.

Another funny ad is the fair and lovely ad. How can they consider themselves as feminists? On one hand they start scholarships for female students. On the other, they say that the colour of the skin is the single, life deciding factor in a woman. What the hell has skin colour, got to do with cricket commentary?

Another reason why that washing powder ad, stinks, is that - I cant remember that powder’s name! Poor brand recall. Very bad.
