Its a pity that the people in Mumbai are so star-struck. Which was more than evident at a recent visit to the restaurant that runs in the name of Sachin Tendulkar. More than half the people present in the place thought they would be greeted by the man himself.
And that is the attitude of most people who flock that place. After all the food is nothing great to visit that place a second time for.
A classily done-up joint in the Colaba area of Mumbai, Tendulkars is what used to be Three Flights Up - a pub owned by co-owner Sanjay Narang.
Not that one person cant indulge in more than one business but what really does Sachin know about running a restaurant? The place just has his name and nothing beyond that.
Like I said the place is very nicely done up but cant say the same about the food or the service. The food is served in considerably small portions and charged quite pricy.
Of the vegetarian dishes I tried there is nothing that deserves a mention.
While the restaurant besides the seating and a bar also has a creche for young kids and their maids. Which is a very rare phenomenon in restaurants in Mumbai.
On the ground floor of the place is a gift shop which is an ideal for cricket fans. Everything from caps to t-shirts to key chains - everything is inscribed with the name Tendulkars.
More than the restaurant or the food- the gift shop is worth a visit.
