Tere Naam: What's in a Name?

Ok. Here is my very first review at Mouthshut.com. So get ready for the debut of Kidmane. Here I review Salman Khan’s comeback flick Tere Naam. Lets Go..

I am gonna be taking a slightly different route from whatever anyone who has reviewed this movie has taken. This movie is atleast a sincere attempt by the makers, which is hardly something that I can say about the movies that are hitting the silver screen lately.

The Story: The story is set in a suburban town, wherein Salman Khan is Radhe who is a local hero and moves around in sports bikes and wears body hugging clothes. Not to mention the typical hairstyle that most of these guys in these towns have. The reason I identified with this character is because whenever I have gone down to my native town and spent some time over there with my cousins, I have seen such characters. Anyway Radhe is a rich spoilt brat who is living of his elder brother and falls for this innocent girl called Nirjara (Bhumika Chawla) who incidently happens to be a poojaris daughter. She is scared of Radhe but still comes to him for petty favors. Anyhow Radhe lets her know about his feelings for her and surprise, surprise, she is not interested. Sorry Dude, I guess your hair scared her off. But never the less, Radhe is still a do-gooder and is pure at heart and helps out Nirjara’s elder sister from a prostitution racket, without knowing who she is. When Nirjara finds out about this her heart melts and she falls in love with Radhe. However the guys he had messed with to save Nirjara’s sister decide to take revenge on Radhe and belt the living s**t out of him. Now Radhe has lost his mental stability and is confined to a mental asylum. What happens next..Well for that you gotta watch the movie, but I will tell you this, you are not gonna get the same cliched ending here. The ending is much closer to reality.

The Performances: Hey guys, give Salman some credit, where it’s due. The guy delivers a no-holds barred performance and gets into the skin of the character. He tickles your funny bone in the first half and makes your stomach churn in the second half. Overall a good performance by Salman after quite a long time. Debutant Bhumika Chawla as the innocent girl of the bygone era shows some promise, but I am not very sure of how she can carry of other glamourous roles. Sachin Khedkar is earnest and the side cast is also passable as most of them stay in character and stay away from hamming outrageously.

The Public Opinion: The movie is mainly targeted at the front benchers and the hardcore Salman Khan fans. In the theatre that I watched the movie in, the crowd was totally going nuts at the drop of a hat. So if you are a Salman Khan fan then go ahead and watch the movie, you will like it.
