More of a homestay

Texwoods is not a resort per se. It is more of a home stay with very basic rooms and simple home made food.

Enjoying your stay at Texwoods really depends on your purpose of visiting the place. If you are looking for a simple get away where you are not in touch with your mobiles/PCs and the outside world, and you just want a calm and a peaceful stay then this place is enjoyable.

However, in our case we went in a mindset to travel and see places around (Kemmangudi falls, Sringeri etc. ) And it is so difficult to travel from this place where the resort is located!! The resort is situated atop a hill where it takes on an average 40 minutes to climb a 4 km distance. So travelling to any and every tourist attraction takes a full day. In fact, we wasted a day’s tariff and missed our stay because we could not climb the hilly roads after roaming around!!!

We also had a 1 year old kid with us and there is nothing much to keep the kid entertained. The Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is close by from the resort, but apart from which even driving to the town of Chikmagalur takes 1-2 hours.

So it makes sense to go to this place only if you want to climb the hill and rest in the so called resort. Else it makes sense to stay a t a budget hotel down the hill and travel around. Also the tariff for the standard of room and food is very high. My personal view is that they have attached a resort tag to claim such high charges. But the stay although neat and simple is not worth the amount they charge. They just have a swimming pool and a common TV ( for all the rooms) for amenities. The trip that they mention to the Bhadra Sanctuary is charged seperately (Rs.1500 per jeep) and is to be shared by the guests.

Net net it is way too costly, not a resort and located in a place difficult to reach. But it is good for those who can afford to travel so much for a stay which is totally cut off from the rest of the world.

Note: Only BSNL network is available in the resort . You can only make local calls (within Karntaka) from the landline available in the resor
