Pattaya City of Robbers

I recently visited Thailand this June and as part of my trip visited Bangkok, Pattaya & Phuket. During the day I stayed at Pattaya after dinner I was taking a walk with my family outside the hotel (we stayed at Holiday Inn) it was around 10-10:30 pm at night when two cross dressers attacked us.

One grabbed my family and started to talk with them and the second one stopped me little behind them and started asking me for a massage to which I refused and suddenly that person kept something pointed at my neck and before I could say something snatched my gold chain and even put hands in my pocket and took off some cash.

I was threatened that the person in front might attack my family. After looting me, they allowed us to walk and not look back. We rushed back to the hotel and packed our bags and left the city early next morning as we were so scared. I called up the tourist police and they said they will not be able to do much than registering the complaint and I should contact my travel insurance company for claim.

Unfortunately my travel insurance company doesn’t cover such loss. There seems to be a nexus operating there. What the locals don’t realise is that by robbing tourists they are digging their own grave. No one will visit this place and their livelihood will be impacted. Please avoid visiting this place and if you have to visit be extremely careful.
