Thailand united Indians

It was a very emotional moment when Indians and white people started dancing together to ’ jhalak dikhlaja’ in Bangkok, Thailand .At  the dolphin show at the safari in Bangkok, which was in the afternoon, around two to three thousand people were waiting patiently with music blaring. Almost eighty percent were white and twenty were Indians. Some company in India had sposored the trip and two buses full of Indians with families were there. Seeing so many Indians the music suddenly started playing an indian song-Himesh Reshmiya’s ’Jhalak dikhlaja’. The Indians got up as one man to dance to the lilting tune.

It brought a lump to our throats and made us proud to be Indians.North and south Indians, gujratis, Bengalis, punjabis , sardarjis all joined in to the delight of the rest of the people. And then one by one the white people too joined in. An old lady in a blue dress who could hardly walk as she had come in a wheelcahair could not control herself and she too started dancing. What a wonderful moment. W e all enjoyed it.

The next song was ’Yeh desh hai veera jawanonka’ and all our guys went crazy. It was fun and it made me feel proud to be an indian.

The best thing of Thailand I liked was the safari at Bangkok. On Jan 14 this year my husband and I went to the safari park. We started early and had a lovely bus tour of the animals. The lions, tigers, giraffes were too good. After that we went to see various animal and bird shows. The sea lions were cute. They clapped and swished about floated, caught rings, played with balls and so on. And were rewarded with fish. They looked almost human. Then we saw the dolphin show and then the bird show.

These shows were good but we had seen similar ones in Singapore and Seaworld at Los Angeles. The themes and the tricks were the same yet we enjoyed them.

As we came out of one of the shows, there was a cute fat tiger cub waiting to be fed with milk. For a price of course. I love animals and immediately decided to feed him. The trainer put him in my arms and gave me a bottle of milk. My husband who was clicking asked me to look up and at that moment the bottle slipped from the cub’s mouth. God, was he angry! He growled ferociously even though he must have been just about a few weeks old. As soon as the bottle was put in his mouth he started drinking. He was heavy, cuddly and very very cute. I simply loved him

At Pataya the water sports wre excellent. My husband went for para sailing right in the middle of the sea. A motorboat took him high up in the air like a kite. Then there was under water sea watching  whch was grand.

All people enjoy these sports. But we Indians are not sports minded, on an average. Our ladies in sarees and even punjabi dresses cannot do all this. And their mindset is not for sports. Isnt it a pity as all this is so much fun and we miss out on all this?
