Thani Oruvan is an action thriller written and directed by Mohan Raja starring Jayam Ravi, Nayantara, Aravind Swamy, Nassar, Thambi Ramaiah, Ganesh Venkatraman, and Vamsi Krishna. Writer Subha helped Raja in the screenplay department.
The movie is all about the cat and mouse game between the IPS officer Mithiran and Siddharth Abhimanyu who rules the medical field and owns immense profit from it. He just cuts off whatever or whoever is against him. The film gets more interesting when Siddharth Abhimanyu kills Angelina, a pharmaceutical company owner based in Switzerland. Mithiran and his friend’s plan to save Angelina go in vain and he also gets shot during Angelina’s assassination.
Siddharth Abhimanyu makes the surgeon to implant an electronic bug in Mithiran’s body during the surgery. The electronic bug has GPS and audio transmitter and with it Siddharth traces Mithiran’s each and every plan. What happens next forms the crux of the movie.
Mohan Raja surprised everyone with a brilliantly crafted thriller and it is definitely one of the best thrillers ever made in Indian cinema. He was in the industry for about 12 years and all his movies were remakes and everyone used to troll him calling “remake raja”. He took about 3 years to complete the script and his hard work has finally paid off. Those who trolled him are praising him like anything.
The strong technical team of the movie contributed a lot. Editor Gopikrishna and cinematographer Ramji did a commendable job. The music and background score by Hiphop Tamizha deserves special appreciation and no one ever expected such a wonder from him!
The character of Mithiran was safe in Jayam Ravi’s hand and the career best performance of him till now. Nayanthara was bold and beautiful and it’s always a pleasure to see her on screen. The most loved character of the movie by everyone is none other than Siddharth Abhimanyu. Aravind Swamy’s comeback can be considered as one of the greatest comebacks ever made by an actor. He overpowered the hero throughout the movie. It’s really hard to get loved by playing an evil villain. Everyone roared and cheered for the evil smile of Vinayak Mahadevan(Ajith) in Mankatha and now it’s time to do it again for Siddharth Abhimanyu.
