I guess most of the people after watching it would say, "I know that it was wrong of him slapping her, but you dont just get up and leave! ". Right guys? Well, now, I seriously don’t even feel angry. I just feel really bad for you guys to not understand a simple thing, Amrita was trying to portray.
Have you ever felt that you don’t have any self - respect left? Like, come on, we all have people who have made us feel that way, sometime or the other. Now, the thing here is that, if that thing is felt by a women, she has to adjust, she has to compromise, she has to act to be happy.
If there are any men here, whose wife is a house - wife, I just have one question for you? Wouldn’t you mind being in her place? Would you leave your job for which you have struggled all those years? Would you stay home all day, all month, all year? Would you do all the Food, Dishes, Clothes, Cleaning for yourself and your family, alone? Would you be able to live away from your parents, your house, your neighborhood?
I know, the answer is no. You can’t compromise so much. No one can. I can’t. But, there are women who do that. And, just to tell you, these women are 80% of all. They compromise. You hit them, they keep quiet. You rape them, they keep quiet. Oh, just so you know, there is a thing called as "Marital Rape".
If boys don’t know how to cook, we hear, "Oh, that’s fine sweetie! Your efforts mean a lot". And, if girls don’t, "Ek Ladki hoke khaana banana nahi aata? Shaadi kaun karega tujhse? ".
Well, I can very well assure you, that these people care about me more than my own parents do. How sweet! ( I don’t need your free advice, Aunty Ji! )
This movie, very beautifully speaks about the supposedly "small things" which every women ignores and moves on with. In our beautiful society, the ones who are unhappy in a marriage are considered better than the ones who are happy without a marriage / after a divorce!
Even though we are all in 2020,
1) If Two people have taken a Divorce, the tag of Divorcee goes to the Women!
2) If a girl has been raped, its because she was exposing herself. No one wonder why a 7 year old girl got raped, why a women all covered in burkha got raped, no wonder how a 80 year old women got raped, No Wonder!
3) If Two people have taken a Divorce, the man has left the women and not the other way around.
4) Even if both Husband - Wife are earning, khaana toh ladki hi banaygi.
5) Why did I start numbering this list? Because this list doesn’t seem to have an end.
One last thing I would like to say to all of you,
In the case of a Sexual Assault, Physical Violence, or any others, If you think you are not responsible because you are not the one who did it, trust me, you are!
Everyone is. The rapist, The family of the rapist for not setting boundaries, just because he is a boy, The family of the girl for fitting this in her mind that she is not supposed to be standing up for herself, and everyone of you who judges the girl sitting in one small corner of your house. To all of those people, I hope you get a life!
