When I saw this title it attracted me, price (100 bucks) was another determining factor. So here it was in my hands and I chucked out V.S. Naipaul for Mr. Tuhin A. Sinha (he has written the scripts of quite a few serials).
The book is set in Mumbai and is the story of Mayank, a sales guy trying hard to adjust to sales pressure (he supposed to clinch a sale which would decide the fate of his company) and to add to his woes he has got engaged, which is not a problem per se, the problem is that its an arranged marriage. He has been given a free hand by his parents to get in a love wed lock but the problem is he has not been able to find “True Love”, i.e. till the time he hasn’t got engaged. And unfortunately for him he falls in love with a much married & professionally successful elder woman, Revathi. And from there starts the story of a immature love…..She loves him or not? Your guess is as good as mine….
In a typical Bollywood style there three more parallel stories running. These are Mayank’s friends, Vishal who enjoys cheating on his wife and Anil who is a too good to be true Husband waiting for his wife to realize that and there is another story of a receptionist who turn out to be something else..
The book is primarily a typical Bollywood flavour love History with enough twists and turns.
This is a story about finding your ideal match but realizing that may be its too late, it’s about trust between a successful Wife and a struggling husband.
It’s about forgetting your childhood love and paving way for a mature love.
Onething that I liked about the book was the incident where Mayank realizes that his Ex- Girlfriend whom he has kept on pedestal and compared all girls with her is just an hazy image of what she was...
Thus emphasising that comparisons are Man Made and if you have to move forward in life , get out of the dream that was love and look out for the reality which can be love.....
It’s about realizing that past is past and present is what matters the most as it’s with you. But yes if there are misdeeds in your past the dirty past will catch upon you.
The book is primarily about letting go and moving forward in life.
There are quite a few technical problems in the book, like the author talks about Café Coffee Day outlet opposite Church Gate but he talks about early nineties. If am not wrong CCD surely came up later. Even the time frame for flood is not matching but then I remembered am reading a book written by a Bollywood Script writer.
On the whole the book is plain average. The narrative is quite slow and boring at palces. The author tries to fit in many bollywood ishtyle incidents. I had read somewhere that a movie is being made based on the book. Hmmm it would surely be another Metro in making...
Am quite sure that the book will not be read by most of the people. Then why did I review it?
Well it’s a time pass book….it can be read in between some heavy books, it has emotions, sacrifice, breaking of trust everything. So if you are a sucker for romance….then you can read it to lighten your mood. Though my ratings are low but still this book can be read...
Another reason for writing this one was to wish Everyone a Very Happy & Prosperous Diwali & A Happy New Year...
Please pardon me for the title couldnt think of anything else :)
