As a kid I was not much into reading comics. The whole perspective changed on receiving a copy of The adventures of Tintin as a birthday present. Now as I just finished re reading one I thought of reviewing it on MS.
The adventures of Tinitin are a set of 22 comics written by Herge. The main characters in the series are
Tintin: A young reporter and detective who has a knack of bumping into shady people and is resolute on bringing them to justice.
Snowy: Tintins pet dog, Not sure which breed it is, but is a white, short and furry little thing who talks. It accompanies Tintin in all the adventures.
Captain Haddock: An old friend of Tintin. He is the president of the society for Sober Sailors but is himself an alcohol addict. His vocabulary is outrageous and often hilarious.
Professor Cuthbert Calculus: A scientific genius who is hard of hearing. His interpretations of seemingly normal conversations makes one roll with laughter. He too accompanys Tintin in many adventures.
Thomson and Thompson: Identical twins who are also detectives from Scotland yard. They also add to the humour element in the series
There are many other characters appearing in the series.
The series can be enjoyed by people of all ages and is not restricted to kids alone. The illustrations in the book are visually appealing and the humour element is worth a special mention. The research done by the author regarding geographical locations and local dialects is also commendable.
The only disadvantage I find is that to pick up a copy of it in India would cost you Rs 225. I still strongly recommend this series …
